What time are newspapers delivered to houses?

I’m thinking of companies that deliver rather than the traditional newsagent paper round.
What sort of time in the morning did they tend to deliver? Thanks

Anyone?

You might want to give people more than three minutes to reply.

Wankerchief · 19/10/2020 12:43

I work in a paper shop
Our kids deliver between 6:30 and 9

Across the road get theirs delivered anytime from 8.30-11.00, sometimes earlier if the boy on a bike delivers

I'm assuming when they are delivered by BMW it's when the paperboy hasn't turned up

Davespecifico · 19/10/2020 12:55

Thanks Tofuschnitzel. I’ll bear that in mind.

Would it be possible for a paper to be delivered at 4 am if coming direct from a depot, or is that too early?

The earliest company I know if where I am (SE) offers 4:30 to 7:30am so there are early ones out there.

Davespecifico · 19/10/2020 13:30

Thanks Wchief. Is 4 am possible, or could they not have left the depot by then?

They're probably nit of print properly at 4am. Why so early?

Shoxfordian · 19/10/2020 13:49

My paper turns up around 3 or 4am I think

Davespecifico · 19/10/2020 13:52

Something dodgy is happening next door. Car comes every day at about 4 am and goes into next door drive, which we’ve been reporting to police.
Next door seem nonchalant about it and said they can’t account for it. Now he’s said, he gets a newspaper delivery so that must be it. But it’s 4 am every day! Could that be at all possible? If it is, we can stop ringing the police and get some sleep.

If it's coming direct from a depot I doubt you could specify a time that accurately.

Shoxfordian · 19/10/2020 13:55

Yeah it could be the newspaper
Why are you more bothered than your neighbour? Why would you even report this?

MrsScrubbingbrush · 19/10/2020 13:56

It could be their paper delivery. We get ours delivered direct and it comes during the (very) early hours of the morning, sometimes around 3-4am.

Tbf I think you'd be better off just minding your own business in this scenario.
Davespecifico · 19/10/2020 14:06

We were burgled last month. Initially our neighbours were as concerned as us about this car turning up at 4 each day. It’s only now, a month later, they say they have a paper delivery

FurTeacup · 19/10/2020 14:09

Well, maybe they didn't make the connection. We had been having the paper delivered at the weekend for almost a year after moving to a new part of the country before I laid eyes on the 'paperboy' (twentysomething woman).

FunnyInjury · 19/10/2020 17:27

Tbh I doubt ne'er do wells would rock up at the same time each day so paper sounds much more plausible the recurring burglary type thing.

Elieza · 19/10/2020 17:47

My neighbour at school did papers from home. The big bundle was delivered to her garage at 4am and she split them up into sacks with house numbers and streets written on each paper which the paperboy delivered from 7am onwards.
Her neighbours must have hated her with the noise of the engine.

I realise that I am way late to this Party, but the fact that I am online at this time in the morning speaks to the fact that I could have written this post. we have an elderly gentleman living next door who is housebound and is sadly not totally with it. a couple of weeks ago our ring doorbell alerted us to someone approaching his house just before 4am. by the time I got up and to the front of the house there was no one there, but it didn't sit right with me and we ended up getting the police out to do a welfare check. this week, I happened to be downstairs at 4.15. saw lights in my usually quiet cul de sac and looked out the front to see my neighbour's paper being delivered. it never even crossed my mind that papers could be delivered this early! but sounds like it's not that uncommon. now feeling silly that I got the police out
