Gnawing pains

I get gnawing pain/burning pain in my stomach so often, I've been prescribed lansopraze 30mg, omeprzole 40mg, peptic liquid, I've tried buscopan, no matter what I try it comes so often, often with a bout of sickness, or nausea at the very least. It's mostly at night, it's been like it for about 2 months and I'm so tired because at least 3 times a week it keeps me up a extra few hours, but often overnight. Tonight the pain is unbearable and it's eased slightly with nibbling food but I'm not hungry so it's making me feel more sick. It's making me so miserable and I'm crying with the pain/tiredness/nausea/just general amount of times this happens. I don't know why I'm posting, just venting I suppose.

Do you have a diagnosis? I would go back to your GP and ask for a scope to check out your stomach. could be something that's easily fixed, or even anxiety. but if it's something nasty better to get it looked at sooner rather than later.

ConorMasonsWife · 18/10/2020 22:18

I don't have a diagnosis, no one seems sure what it is. Anxiety would be possible but usually it gives me heart palpitations and cold sweats, but it could be a new symptom. It's just so painful. They've referred me for an endoscopy but they've warned me it could be a while :(

while you are waiting for an endoscopy, try really hard to spend sometime concentrating on your breathing and relaxing. getting out and about on a few long walks can really help anxiety. today we went to the beach and it's helped my health anxiety hugely.

i would also look at your diet. avoid all processed foods, alcohol, sugar, caffeine and wheat.
It's a big change but you might did it helps.

I will try, thank you. I will try anything if it would help the pain ease, it's making my life miserable.

Is the pain on the right hand side & maybe going up to your right shoulder, in which case it could be gallstones?

TheSeedsOfADream · 18/10/2020 22:28

Have you been tested for h.pylori?
I'm just sitting here gnawing and gurgling and thinking mine might have come back.
It's awful- I do sympathise.

ConorMasonsWife · 18/10/2020 22:29

It's in the middle and right hand side but not in my shoulder at all, so I don't know if it's gallstones, I've tried to avoid googling to be honest because google doesn't tend to help much, but I shall definitely have a look. It's been really difficult because of covid I haven't really seen the doctors, just described my symptoms and they've prescribed and we've been going on trial and error. On Tuesday night it would so bad I almost went to A and E, but whatever it is clearly isn't too dangerous as I'm still here and fine, it's just painful.

I haven't been tested for that, I'm thinking perhaps tomorrow I should ask for a face to face appointment with the doctor!

It's a really common infection and it's easily cured with a triple whammy of 2 antibiotics and a PPI like you're already taking.
I had it about 10 years ago and the doctor was "ooh gallstones/liver/IBS" and I was "could I be tested for h.pylori first" I paid for a blood test in the end and lo and behold.

I think it might be back as I've had the gnawing thing again for a couple of weeks.

TheSeedsOfADream · 18/10/2020 22:34

Thank you, you too.
I'm spending far too much time googling myself at the mo' and know that just makes it feel worse! Flowers

ConorMasonsWife · 18/10/2020 22:35

Then I shall ring and ask for an appointment and a test tomorrow. And I do hope you get better soon, it's never nice to be in pain.

And thank you. Hopefully I can ask for a couple of tests, try a couple of things and something will hopefully work!

I have gallstones and it sounds almost identical!

If the pain is that bad, get yourself to A&E.

Mention gallstones to your GP and push for an ultrasound. Try eating very low fat and see if it helps.

A hot water bottle and painkillers will help ease it hopefully.

It sucks.

ScribblingMilly · 18/10/2020 22:56

Just in case it's your gallbladder, it'd be worth laying off greasy & oily food especially fried for a couple of days and see if it eases off. My pain turned out to be that - I had the H pylori test first too which I agree is well worth doing.
