What is this thing that’s plugged in?

It has no scent, quietly clicks every so often but otherwise doesn’t seem to be doing much. Thank you mumsnetters!

I think it's an anti rodent plug. You can get them that give off a very high pitch noise to deter mice.

A rodent deterrent?
