What do you think? DD not being supervised eating lunch

DD2 (who is 10) was in tears last night at the prospect of returning to (primary) school on Monday (we're in Scotland). I knew they eat their lunch in the classroom, but found out last night that they're not supervised at all. A bunch of boys in the class are taking the opportunity to bully DD. Nothing too extreme, but we've already had problems with one of the boys who has bullied DD very badly. (Including picking her up off the ground by her throat and tripping her up in the playground and kicking her on the ground.)

I understand that the teachers need their lunch, but also can't have DD being picked on. How would you approach it? DH is all for marching down to the school on Monday, but I'm also unsure about if I'm being unreasonable to expect children in primary school to always be supervised?

Scotland here too, kids eat their lunches in class and the teachers go to staff room but every class is still supervised by dinner ladies!

Went through the same with my DD and it's heartbreaking,I was a March down to the school parent!Hope it gets sorted x

I'm wondering if there is one teacher/adult tying to supervise 2 or 3 classes at the same time. that was common when I was little.

If they are short on numbers that may be their only solution rather than sends the DCs home for dinners.

You don’t need the school to supervise every class, just the one where a young girl was violently attacked by another student. Be very clear on this and don’t get side tracked by supervision issues.

Sounds like they don't have enough people to cover Covid lunch arrangements, but that isn't your problem OP. I'd be straight down there on Monday.
