It's a dandelion clock. Or is this a trick question?

tectonicplates · 18/10/2020 10:20

I'm pretty sure that's a dead dandelion.

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 10:20

A dandelion clock. Against a backdrop of grass.

Is this a trick question?

pinkyredrose · 18/10/2020 10:22

It's not dead, it's gone to seed.

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 10:24

A question about plants/gardening to which I know the answer. That's a first.

cariadlet · 18/10/2020 10:25

When I was little, we used to blow dandelion clocks to tell the time. They were very unreliable. 😊

dementedpixie · 18/10/2020 10:26

Dandelion. That's the seeds. They also help you tell the time Grin

WittyFunnyUsername · 18/10/2020 10:26

I just want to see if anybody else calls it what my dh insists they're known as. He's insisting it isn't just his family and it's the word people use for them specifically when they are dead and you can blow them. Never heard it before and neither has a google search!!

It’s a dandelion

DinosApple · 18/10/2020 10:28

Dandelion (clock). What does your DH say it's called?

tectonicplates · 18/10/2020 10:28

@pinkyredrose

It's not dead, it's gone to seed.
Sorry, I know what I meant but couldn't think how to phrase it!
pooopypants · 18/10/2020 10:30

Dandelion clock

FlouncingBabooshka · 18/10/2020 10:30

Oh, I’m intrigued now because your last pot has stirred a little not-quite-within-my-grasp recollection that we might have called dandelions something different when I was young.

Please tell us OP!

FiveShelties · 18/10/2020 10:34

I would call it a Blow Clock, not sure if that s a regional thing or a family thingGrin

dementedpixie · 18/10/2020 10:36

Is it dandelion flowers that are 'pee the beds'? And buttercups can determine if you like butter or not

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 10:39

I wondered whether this was going to be one of those pictures that goes viral on the internet where everyone sees a dandelion clock until they're told it's actually a microwave oven at a weird angle.

GreyishDays · 18/10/2020 10:40

Dandelion seed.

WittyFunnyUsername · 18/10/2020 10:45

Floobys. Apparently they are called Floobys. He's teaching our toddler how to "blow Floobys"

It's not a fucking thing.

OP posts:
WittyFunnyUsername · 18/10/2020 10:45

I don't know why it's making me so angry! Grin

OP posts:
AllPlayedOut · 18/10/2020 10:46

Floobys? WTF? Never heard of it.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 18/10/2020 10:46

Oh my god I'd have to kill him. Floobys?!

I bet his Dad made it up to take the piss out of him when he was wee Grin

cariadlet · 18/10/2020 10:50

Nope. Never heard of Floobys. It's definitely some weird family name.

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 10:50

Never heard them called floobies before.

MrsXx4 · 18/10/2020 10:50

I know what they are but when I was young we called them ‘fairies’.
