Tips for posting parcels that might help someone else!

Learned this last year when posting several parcels home for xmas, from a very helpful woman at my local post office. Thought that with the current restrictions and xmas, more people might be posting gifts rather than traveling so it might come in handy!

If you're postinf several parcels to the same adress (max 15 i think) you can ask for it to be posted as a consignment, which treats it as one parcel rather than the multiple, so saves lots of money!

Not sure how common knowledge this is, but i was amazed when i was told so want to pass on the possible savings :)

If you were posting 15 things to the same address why on earth would you choose to send them all seperately in the first place?

That sounds very useful, thank you!

Do you know if it is slower to deliver a consignment, rather than two separate parcels?

One thing I have been doing recently is ordering from, say, John Lewis and having it delivered to the recipient direct. Used to have it delivered to me, wrap it up, and send on. The new way means the recipient doesn't get a present wrapped in wrapping paper, but does mean I don't have to queue at the Post Office which, in covid times, I am keen to avoid.

@anuffername i suppose if you were posting 15 parcels then you might already know, but if you are like me and posting xmas presents home, split it between 3 boxes as the only way to get it to fit, you mught expect to have to pay for 3 parcels.

I dont regularly post parcels so would have thought each parcel was a seperate entity.

@leeds2 it didnt appear to take any longer than normal, arrived pretty quickly with the normals signed for options etc all still available.

I never go into the post office. If you have a printer at home it can all be done online. I am lucky to have a post box that takes parcels nearby though.
