DIY beanbags

Hi, I am looking for some advice or ideas. I have been sewing lovely corduroy bean bags for my kids for their rooms and am looking for an environmentally friendly filling for them. Don't want to use the horrible polystyrene beads. I know there are eco friendly fillers out there but they are quite costly and we are on a serious budget, especially due to lockdown.
Any cheap diy ideas, or has anyone used other eco friendly materials and if so can you tell me the comfort level.
I don't want my kids uncomfy and want to keep doing our part to be Earth friendly. Was wondering about shredded paper?
shredded old clothes?
any ideas welcome.
Thanks and stay safe.
