What is your favourite supermarket and why?

I've never really had a favourite, I just shop where I can find deals but I'd like to just start sticking to one. So I guess I would like to ask you what is your favourite supermarket and the reasons why?

Waitrose. If I go anywhere else I nearly always end up having to go there as well as their range is more varied. And it's less crowded. But I do get my basics delivered from Tesco.

gritty loos
My toes are literally curling
🤮

We have a Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi, Tesco and Asda within a mile of where we live and shop in all except Asda regularly. Certain things we prefer from certain stores. Really wish we had a Sainsbury's, M&S or Waitrose closer though.

LadyCatStark · 15/10/2020 21:22

@Playingchesswithpigeons not quite; Garstang 😊

HappyDinosaur · 15/10/2020 21:27

Tesco's because it's convenient, they always have what I need and always deliver on time.

flowerycurtain · 15/10/2020 21:29

My favourite is Waitrose.

I can afford Tesco.

H1978 · 15/10/2020 21:35

My local Tesco. I hate supermarkets and always do a weekly online shop but our Tesco is huge and spacious so it feels less claustrophobic. It also has a lovely homeware and clothing department.

@WinWinnieTheWay

Asda. Fruit and veg is great price and good quality. Many branded products a third of what you'd pay in Sainsbury's or Waitrose.
I’m with you and we have big Asda in my area. I used to shop in Sainsbury’s which close to my house and now shop in Asda. I Only use Sainsbury’s if it is raining because of the underneath car park
Ragwort · 15/10/2020 21:39

Game thank you, I will look forward to that!

Leflic · 15/10/2020 21:40

I hate Waitrose . Mine is very austere, It’s for people that know about food but actually hate eating.
Sainsbury’s is odd. Soulless, over priced but trying to be classy
Tesco seems to be all about staff - thousands of them either mucking about or grimly ignoring everyone.
Morrison’s is ok but has an odd range from the most fabulous fish counter to nothing in basics like baking.
Lidl’s and Aldi have some brilliant stuff but they are essentially warehouses.
M&S charges the earth for ready meals. Although it’s the only place I notice things do taste better. Although paying a quid more for everything leaves a bitter taste.

I get a delivery and hope I never have to do a weekly shop in any of them.

MadameTuffington · 15/10/2020 21:44

Lidl - fruit & veg is superb quality, bakery is excellent and there are always quirky things to buy - also, it is such bloody good value and the staff at my local are friendly and hilarious - and they now have a useful app - I love Lidl :)

teenagetantrums · 15/10/2020 21:52

Lidl...can get 99% of stuff l need there and so much cheaper. Otherwise pop into Tesco or co op occasionally.

Muddypuddlesinthewoods · 15/10/2020 21:56

If I could go to the shops it would be aldi (because of price) however I'm disabled and therefore use online delivery I use tesco due to good range of free from, 1 hour time slots, used to brands, prefer the tesco online experience to other supermarkets (have tried asda, Morrisons, ocado).

QueenOllie · 15/10/2020 21:56

Booths if I had the money
Morrison's is my usual shop

Ragwort · 16/10/2020 12:01

Booths Christmas E-book arrived in my in box this morning Smile , my day off so chores finished I will sit on my sofa with a coffee for a very happy hour looking at the lovely pictures.
(Just home from a Waitrose shop - second best choice but also picked up some nice bits in Lidl .... and popped into Iceland...... I actually enjoy supermarket shopping and seeing what is available Blush).

BarbaraofSeville · 16/10/2020 12:14

I don't understand why you would just stick to one? What do you gain from that?

For me, Morrisons is nearest and has the best pitta breads and loose carrots, which almost nowhere else seems to have.

Aldi and Lidl because they're cheap and have some nice and/or unusual things.

Asda or Waitrose for the sushi counter. M&S for the good reductions and I like their meat.

I'd keep rotating depending on what you like from where, which you are nearest to etc

Clawdy · 16/10/2020 12:17

Sainsburys. Not near us, so only get there once a month, but they have much nicer meals than our local Tesco and Co op.

happinessischocolate · 16/10/2020 12:30

Aldi, they're cheap and more importantly they don't keep changing the layout so I always know where stuff is.

I have to do my mums shopping in Sainsburys and they're forever changing it round, drives me bonkers
