What is your favourite supermarket and why?

I've never really had a favourite, I just shop where I can find deals but I'd like to just start sticking to one. So I guess I would like to ask you what is your favourite supermarket and the reasons why?

*Waitrose!

LadyofMisrule · 15/10/2020 18:09

Booths, but as I'm hundreds of miles away from one, I just look through their old Christmas books and dream...

I actually shop at Lidl, with Sainsbury's for top ups.

LadyCatStark · 15/10/2020 18:09

Booths but it’s too expensive to do a full shop there. Our nearest town has a Booths, Aldi and Sainsburys close together so sometimes I go to all 3 😂.

MillieEpple · 15/10/2020 18:11

Sainsburys. Its close.
Everywhere else is a different town and i hate driving, plus the time and petrol.

LuckyAmy1986 · 15/10/2020 18:15

Sainsburys, I like the nectar points and the 5x vouchers etc you get. We currently have £120 worth which we will spend at Christmas. I also think the quality of the food is good, and the stores seem to be clean and staff mostly very good.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 15/10/2020 18:16

I prefer Aldi and Lidl, when they’re up to date stores. The ones near me are and there’s a Lidl being built that’s even closer. I top up and get things I can get elsewhere at Sainsbury’s because it’s nearby. Will sometimes schlepp to Waitrose. Don’t use Tesco, Morrison’s or Asda.

unmarkedbythat · 15/10/2020 18:19

Aldi.

It is affordable. I like the products it sells. I can get almost everything I need there (there is no supermarket which sells everything I want). The lack of row after row of branded products all the bloody same but for a label is refreshing. I love the centre aisle. I like not packing at the till (unpopular opinion I know).

wellmaybenot · 15/10/2020 18:21

I think Sainsbury's and Aldi were mentioned the most. Tell me more about the nectar card points - how do they work? I'm pretty sure I have the card, need to have a look through my purse Grin

I do like Aldi too but agree that some things you just can't get there and going to one shop is enough for me when doing grocery shopping. I think their baby products are really good actually!

It's funny that not one person had mentioned Asda! I wonder if it's the ridiculous amount of substitutes?

I don't really have a favourite, but tend to shop most often at Morrisons because it's nearest.

unmarkedbythat · 15/10/2020 18:23

I used to like Asda and then had the misfortune of Longsight Asda becoming my local one.

Brot64 · 15/10/2020 18:26

Wholefood's, I could live in there. Constantly have new products too, so always feels like an adventure going in.

REDLIPSTICKANDNAILS · 15/10/2020 18:28

Aldi and Tesco when I need branded stuff

Singlenotsingle · 15/10/2020 18:30

Lidl - partly because of the prices. I got a carrier bag full of groceries the other day for £12.37. including two large packs of chopped ham, a pack of best quality mince, a box of six own brand delicious magnums, and their best quality toilet paper amongst other things. I also like them for the variety of their food. They sell Portuguese custard tarts for 49p - I've seen them on sale elsewhere for over a pound.

Dillo10 · 15/10/2020 18:36

Waitrose - so calm and spacious in there! Makes a real difference.

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/10/2020 18:47

Lidl and Waitrose.

grafittiartist · 15/10/2020 18:52

Heron! Love it- it's so random.
Ours has a great fruit and veg shop next door.

earthyfire · 15/10/2020 18:55

Sainsbury's however, I am so bored of their products and my bills have really increased since Covid but I know that is the same everywhere.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 15/10/2020 18:56

Waitrose - wide aisles, very clean, lots of interesting ready meals. I never feel crowded or rushed in there.

Hardly ever go, maybe once or twice a year. It's like a treat! Otherwise it's Lidl and Sainsbobs for me.

Saucery · 15/10/2020 18:58

Waitrose. The lights don’t give me a headache and the aisles aren’t crammed together.

OpEd · 15/10/2020 19:02

Waitrose, it's the only place you don't have to hunt for higher welfare meat.

OttomanViper · 15/10/2020 19:03

Sainsbury's. I like the home and clothing sections, and I can always find the food I want. But I don't shop there often as it's too expensive!

formerbabe · 15/10/2020 19:05

I love Sainsburys, Aldi and Lidl.

Waitrose and M&S are lovely.

Only supermarkets I don't shop in are Tesco and Asda.

whereisthejoy · 15/10/2020 19:07

Tesco because their delivery service is second to none. And their products are far better than our local Sainsburys.

Bloody love Tesco ❤️

MiddleClassMother · 15/10/2020 19:07

Asda is a living hell (at least the one nearest to me (probably 30 mins)
It's full of mad chavs and the floors always seem to have the wet floor signs up, along with battered old cars in the car park, no thank you.
Glad i've not seen it mentioned once.

Goslowlysideways · 15/10/2020 19:10

Waitrose or Sainsbury’s

Waitrose has lots of products I love and can’t get anywhere else. The staff are lovely and it’s calm.
Sainsbury’s is my second favourite.
