Boiler service - where will engineer go?

Have got a boiler service today. What does it entail? Ie do they just look at boiler or do they go around house looking at rads etc too? Kind of hoping they just stay in boiler area!

Boiler and heating controls, although when we had ours a few weeks ago he just asked me to turn the heating on so that didn't need to walk through the house.

Needcoffeeimmediatley · 15/10/2020 08:41

Oh and he'll need to go to the gas meter, ours is outside, he just stayed in boiler area in house

Ginfordinner · 15/10/2020 08:41

If you have a hot water tank they will look at that as well.

What are your concerns?

AgentProvocateur · 15/10/2020 08:42

Ours checks all the radiators too, in every room

RustyBear · 15/10/2020 08:45

Ours was done a few weeks ago; he was in the kitchen, garage for the gas meter and upstairs to access the airing cupboard, where the pump is and the loft for the tank. He asked me to check the radiators were all coming on ok.

WoodenFox · 15/10/2020 08:48

Mine usually checks all the radiators too.

What are your concerns?

If the op is anything like me, it's getting the whole house clean just incase they want to check all the rads! 😆

mum2b56 · 15/10/2020 08:51

When we had ours he checked all the radiators in the house and I had my knickers and clothes all over them 😳

BumbleBee5w · 15/10/2020 08:55

Exactly @woodenfox

You are overthinking the untidiness of your house aspect Bumble. The boiler service person won't care how tidy your house is, as long as it isn't filthy and smelly.

tortoiseshell1985 · 15/10/2020 09:47

Boiler controls and meter. Normally check radiators but may not do this because of covid etc

nimbuscloud · 15/10/2020 09:47

We had ours serviced this morning. The boiler house is in the back garden and the gas meter is in the front garden. No checking of rads etc

decoraters · 15/10/2020 09:50

I never had my radiators checked with the last service (pre covid) I just told the guy they were fine. If you are worried about a particular room just shut the door and say someone is sleeping! Ensure your radiators are heating fully and evenly first though, no point sending the guy away if they need anything sorting.

noideaatallreally · 15/10/2020 09:50

Boiler, meter and a hot water tap to check the water is coming through at the correct temp. It is important to know where they will be going because of covid rules. Did they send you a pre visit check list eg having areas clear, not being in the room with them, they will be wearing a mask etc?

BumbleBee5w · 15/10/2020 10:46

All done. Was just in boiler area and didnt need to enter the rest of the house which I was happy about! Both from a shithole aspect and a covid aspect to be honest! I'd have let him go anywhere had it have been needed but glad it wasn't 👍👍👍

Thanks for the replies everyone

Ha ha ours went up to our bedroom to test the top floor heating control and my floor had a multitude of bras on it.
