Inspired by the Amazon Prime thread I realised I haven't seen a thread about how to maximise benefits of Alexa (or Google home etc) recently. I often get good ideas on here when I see those threads eg skills I didn't realise existed or that have improved massively since I first tried to use them....
So hit me with your best tips for using Alexa etc? And can anyone tell me if the shopping apps - Sainsbury's, Ocado etc have got any better? I gave up a few months ago and haven't worked up the energy to try again.
For the record, we use ours for music, to talk to each other around the house, shopping lists (the kids have their own christmas and birthday lists as well that they enjoy adding to), basic homework help eg how to spell certain words etc. DD uses it to play musical statues with her friends. Podcasts and radio. Alarms and timers. Weather updates.
We also have a few lights connected and I'm in process of buying more which are convenient for turning on/off and dimming (and at 1% DD's is a night light for her) but also are all on timers which i really like so we don't come home to a dark house, they come on while we're on holiday etc. I have also once used a smart plug to turn off my slow cooker when I was going to be out from very early to very late, using the timer.
