On the subject of window cleaners...

I inherited a window cleaner when I moved in to my present house. He initially cleaned all the windows on our street. He charged £9 and I always paid him £10. I also made him a drink and we would have a chat.
When he started for me I quickly realised there were some windows he could not physically clean due to them being out of reach of his ladders. Accepted.

Over time he became lazy and it was always when I was not at home - I could not be sure if he cleaned all the windows. Some times he would miss the kitchen window and the side door at the back, sometimes the front door would be missed and sometimes the side window of the lounge.
Then he really started taking the piss and missed patio doors and combinations of other windows.
By now he is only coming to my house and next door. Everyone else on the street had sacked him off.
One day I got home and he had left a note saying he had cleaned the windows and that I owed him £10. When I looked I could not see where he had cleaned.
I left £9 in an envelope and a note saying 'thank you for cleaning our windows, but unfortunately I can't not afford you anymore'.
It only took him 15 minutes tops to do my house. Silly man

Hi, do you know this is the second thread about window cleaners I have read today but very different situations. I think you've done the right thing. It sounds like he really did have a good thing going if your whole street used him - maybe the shine had gone off it for him! Grin

'inherited a window cleaner'? I only got an old pocket watch when my Grandfather died...

We had a monthly window cleaner that always missed windows and the ones he did clean still looked dirty. One month he billed me twice, cleaned a week apart, I asked why and he said he needed the money! Hmm

Never have found a good one.
