Horrible cough- already tested negative

I have a really horrible dry cough.

It’s ok if I’m not moving around, but if I start walking it kicks off and I can’t stop.

Literally just got test results and it’s negative (luckily).

I’ll speak to my work tomorrow but I’m ok to go back to work aren’t I even if I have this cough?

It could be that you got a false negative.

That can happen?!

Problem is, I can’t have any more time off work. I’ve had quite a bit of absence this year and the only other thing I can be off with really is this.

I can’t really call them up and say “well I’ve had a negative, but you know it could be a false negative so I’m not coming in”

Crap.

I don’t know what to do

I mean people had nasty coughs before Covid. All the viruses that caused those didn’t just go away.

I’d just ring your work in the morning and see what they say. They might prefer you not to come in because if you spread that to others and they all have to self isolate whilst waiting for test results that’s worse than just you being off.

It’s a public shop too and I can just picture the public complaining if they start hearing me cough..which wouldn’t look good

My DD is the same, nasty cough but negative Covid test.

No one else in the family has fallen ill and she’s had it nearly 2 weeks now.

Yeah so far, no one else is ill here either. It’s horrible

My head hurts, my back hurts from coughing, my chest hurts from coughing and so does my throat.

Cough medicine isn’t touching anything.

I’m fine if I’m laid in bed doing fuck all, but I get up to go to the bathroom and it all starts up again

My DD is the same. Continuously coughing since Saturday, negative test. She is prone to winter coughs and often needs an inhaler, but this isn’t wheezy just... annoying!
