How do you wash a north face attic parka?

Does the waterproof come off it if you wash it?

What do the washing instructions say? I imagine they say not to use fabric softener

What does the wash label say? Do you have the exact Model of jacket as you may find online the instructions of how to wash it. Is it down with baffles to hold the feathers in? If so needs a very very gentle wash do not shake and must be dried flat and supported so you don't break the lining and the feather all pool to the bottom. Washing it won't remove all the waterproof ness but may need re-proofing anyway. I normally use a nikwax reproofer with my waterproof jackets.

Check Washing label
If it can be tumble dried put some tennis balls in!
And yes, fabric will need re proving at some point. Once clean you can use a washin solution... just follow instructions.
