They're tenants not squatters.

I imagine mortgage lender is selling, people inside are former owners. It’s on at half market value. Someone will buy it, issue eviction papers then the people in situ can go to the council for emergency accommodation.

If it’s repossessed, whic it clearly is, the owners are no longer the owners. Calling them tenants is just politer than writing squatters, or wrong the former owners are in there.

If they were squatters there would be no problem evicting them.
