New mattress on a budget,help!

We need a new mattress buy money is about to become tight due to a change in our circumstances.

Currently we have a pocket sprung/wool mattress from Warren Evans.

We had a memory foam years ago and it was so sweaty,I'd wake up with wet patches 🤮.

I've been looking at bestsellers like Casper/Emma/Eve/Simba and then see a few terrible reviews which puts me off.
There is a flash sale on Amazon today for the Simba but not the latest Simba pro I don't think which is apparently cooler.

Lots of people like Ikea but it's hard to find reviews.

Please help!

Hi OP, most mattresses will end up with a few really crap reviews online because the whole thing is so subjective. Do you know what firmness etc you need? I know the American market better so I'm not that familiar with some of those brands but Casper is pretty good for the money and has ventilated top layers, so it shouldn't sleep as hot as some other memory foam beds. But it will still trap a certain amount of heat.

Ikea are good and have a good returns policy.

Sorry should have said that my job involves mattresses. Otherwise my post makes me sound a bit mad.

Thanks.

We need medium for firmness I guess, not too soft and not too hard!

The Hybrid's look good but then there's always a few people who say they're just far too hot although I'm sure they've moved on a lot since when I had a full memory foam.

Some people like memory foam, some people hate it! You really need to go and look to see what type of mattress you like first. What's your budget and what size?

We bought the Emma one a few months ago and really like it. It doesn't feel like memory foam (you don't get stuck in it) and it isn't sweaty. They do a return policy anyway so you can return it if you don't like it. You can get a big voucher discount online if you search I believe.

We have had the Hovag from IKEA for 3 years now and really like it. Cool and comfortable and great value.

Bingowin · 13/10/2020 08:26

@AtomicSquash our dd has a Hovag and it feels comfy so maybe we'll buy that and a nice topper.

@leafeater £0 budget so as cheap as possible.

You can buy returned mattresses on Enay really cheaply but then you don't get the 100 day returns thing so don't fancy that without trying one first.

Think we'll go for the Hovag,it's the most economical option.
