Do you get a veg box delivered? What's in it this week?

Have just opened ours and can see a pile of lettuces, tomatoes, apples and pears. There's more underneath but not sure what yet. I'm a bit frustrated tbh, it's pissing rain and chilly where I am and we won't fancy salad so not sure what the lettuce will be useful for.

What have you got in yours this week? Are you pleased with it?

Dead bugs and 3 live ones.. Seriously.. Puts me off

Ours came on Friday and had potatoes, carrots, onions, red peppers, cabbage, broccoli and chard. Oh and mushrooms I think too.

pinkbalconyrailing · 12/10/2020 20:48

you can cut the lettuce into strips and use it in stir fry.

vanillandhoney · 12/10/2020 20:51

You can cook lettuce.

eleventylevennamechanges · 12/10/2020 20:52

Potatoes, carrots, peppers, aubergines, a bag of salad and a cucumber.
I still do side salads with pasta.

Potatoes, purple carrots, onions, crown prince squash, romanesco, red cabbage, Romano peppers & courgettes.

We use Riverford and I really rate it we’ve never had a bad box and the items are good and great value

Beetroot, Pak choi, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, onions, carrots, oranges, apples, pears, bananas

Xiaoxiong · 12/10/2020 21:19

Potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, kale, Romano peppers, pears, red grapes and persimmon. Also Riverford.

If I had lettuce and didn't want salad, I'd braise it with peas and chicken stock. Mmm.

Warming to my theme, I'd roast the tomatoes in a tray bake with fish and olives and a bit of chorizo, and the apples and pears are perfect for crumble!

Ours had spinach, tomatoes, beetroot, carrots, onions, 2 sweet corn cobs and two different varieties of pumpkin. I was very happy with it.

Isn't the idea of a veg box that the supplier offloads what they have? Their choice, not yours. I thought you were going to say it was all turnips and swedes, OP.

Ours comes on Thursdays. Last week we potatoes, chard, Savoy cabbage, brussel sprouts, red peppers and carrots. Fruit was apples, mango, passion fruit, bananas and grapes. Salad box had lettuce, tomatoes, radishes and a very rubbery cucumber.

We order from Riverford. For a few weeks we were getting butternut squash and sweet potatoes which were fab made into soup.
