Sylvian families for a 2year old?

It says from 3months. Would they be suitable for a 2 year old/24month old or not because of the small parts?

I dont think they'd be dangerous, but I do think they are aimed at older dc as they are fiddly.

WhatWouldJKRDo · 12/10/2020 17:13

Too young, so many tiny tiny bits. I'd leave it a year or two

Whatwouldnanado · 12/10/2020 17:13

No. The pieces are far too tiny. Have you considered Duplo? Or Happyland which has gorgeous farm/ house sets?

I have a 2.5 year old and a 3.5 year old

The three year old loves SF and gets a lot of imaginative play from them, the two year old isn't bothered about them. We've had them since the eldest was 2 but it's only more recently she started playing with them.

Not all of it is small/fiddly.

At two they both loved playing with duplo, megablocks, train sets, pushchairs/proms, shape sorter buses, (anything with wheels actually).

The figures and houses / cars etc are fine just remove the tiny little pieces like hairbrushes, loaves of bread, cups etc and keep for them they are a bit older

ThatBitch · 12/10/2020 17:42

Maybe the figures but they are fiddly. I'd leave the sets for a year or 2. My dd started collecting them around age 5 and loves them now at age 8. She spends hours setting up all the teeny tiny pieces

RosieLemonade · 12/10/2020 18:41

I wouldn’t. Too fiddly.

blacksax · 12/10/2020 18:43

My dd got some when she was about 2 and a half. She didn't play with them all that much then; she only really started to take an interest when she got to about 5.

SunShinesStill · 12/10/2020 21:29

Thanks all, I’ll look for something else

I got my dd a family set at 2. She started playing with them at 2.5. Loves dressing them and undressing them again.
But one family is enough and she'd get the same enjoyment from anything you can dress and undress.

Nowifi · 13/10/2020 08:16

My 2 year old put them in the sandpit age 2 Angry now she plays nice with them at age 4

Margaritawithlime · 13/10/2020 08:28

I’m stuck for ideas for my 2yo so I’m glad you posted this OP. I think I’ll leave the sylvanian families for another year and try to think of something else!!

SunShinesStill · 13/10/2020 16:47

@Margaritawithlime if you think of something else please come back and let us know!

I will! Have been looking at happy lane but not hugely loving that. And playmobil. I seem to remember DS getting some playmobil around 2/3 ish so I might have a better look at what there is.
