What clock does your child have? Does it show the actual time? Does it glow?

My little boy has had a grow clock for years but he is now 7 and wants to see the actual time when he wakes up. All it shows is a moon not 'the time'.

DH and I have spent the last hour or more online trying to find a clock that shows the time, that glows and plugs in and we cannot find one!

How can it be this hard???

What clocks do your kids have in your room?

Mine all have Lumie clocks. The sunlight feature makes a massive difference on dark mornings.

Helgathehairy · 11/10/2020 21:30

An actual ‘glo clock’ does all that.

We just used a digital alarm clock

Actually ds has a digital click that projects the time on to the ceiling

*clock

If it’s a relatively up to date version of the GroClock then just after the option where you set the time you have the choice to select Yes or No. Make sure that’s Yes and then the time will show even when the blue moon screen is counting down.

BendingSpoons · 11/10/2020 21:35

DD's gro clock has the time on it (you can turn it on and off in the settings). It has a blue star at night, not a moon, so a different model to yours I guess.

MrsTumbletap · 11/10/2020 21:38

Oh my god, does his actual gro clock do what I need and I just haven't sorted the settings??! Shock

What buttons do I need to press? All I see is a moon.

Groclock already does this. Instructions here: www.argos-support.co.uk/storage/uploads/9103348_D0011.pdf?direct

refriedbeanstalk · 11/10/2020 21:56

If you can't get it to do it or it's too small then this looks ok

I think DDs has an ON/OFF setting after you set the time, but tbh she was the one that managed to switch the time on. For such a great product, it's controls are very confusing!

I've got these in the kids bedrooms. Bought them last year, for less than similar ones cost now on Amazon. But they work well. Needed a USB plug (the type you plug your phone cable into) to plug them into the mains.

MrsTumbletap · 13/10/2020 18:11

@Gulsink do they glow the whole time like a nightlight? And can you dim the light?

OP posts:
Gulsink · 13/10/2020 19:06

You can have them glowing all night at different brightnesses or colour changing. Can be set to fade off at lengths of 15/30/45? Mins. Set to brighten on with no alarm or different alarm sounds at different volumes or radio.
The exact ones I got aren't available anymore but it looks like there are plenty of similar ones. All seem to be about £25.
I think I paid less than £15 and was surprised by the quality.
I saw some in the 'Middle Aisle of Crap' in Lidl a couple of months ago for about £25.

GreyishDays · 13/10/2020 19:10

Does it absolutely have to plug in? We just have this sort of thing in each room for Amazon.

So this is our GroClock with the time showing. I am wondering if you perhaps have an older version? The option to show the clock or not, when it’s in sleep mode, appears for me in settings as the final option after setting the time - choose Yes for it to appear. We have loads of good quality 2nd hand gro-clocks on FB groups round us - normally on for between £5 and 10. So if you don’t have the option on the current one that would be a cheap way to get a new one. Having said that I do wonder whether in a year or so the GroClock may be deemed to be too babyish and so you’ll have to pay out for something else anyway!

My boy has a Lego Batman clock, it's a bit more grown up than a gro clock and is fun! It's just a digital clock and it lights up if you push the head down so he can easily see the time.

like this: LEGO Superman Alarm Clock, Red/Blue, DC Comics https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07TTNHXP1/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_JzGHFbPRV38WW
