Nespresso..worth it?

I'm not a massive coffee drinker but I do like Nespresso. Is it worth getting a machine for my 1 maybe 2 a day coffee?!

Absolutely! We've had ours 5 years now and use it everyday, it's the one appliance I would really miss. Make sure and get the milk frother too!

ShirleyPhallus · 11/10/2020 17:27

It is delicious and the customer service is fantastic. Ours packed up a year ago and they sent us a new one on next day delivery.

But the capsules are very expensive and no friend of the environment, even though they can be recycled and you can get reusable ones so that does negate it somewhat

I’d probably get a bean to cup one again or a proper Delonghi or something

TheVanguardSix · 11/10/2020 17:29

So, so, so worth it. I have a cup or two a day and it's just a total pleasure. There's so much 'No Drinking, No Dancing, No Mixing, No Travelling, No Joy' at the moment. In a time full of NOs, say yes to Nespresso.

I should have gone into advertising. Grin
Seriously. It's lovely stuff though. And well worth it.

LadyCatStark · 11/10/2020 17:38

Yes it’s been a real treat whilst we’ve been stuck WFH. Agree with getting a decent one with a milk frother though.

keziahthecat · 11/10/2020 17:55

Definitely worth it. It's not the best coffee in the world but fine if you're not massively into coffee and lovely for milky type ones. I have 1/2 a day.

Bluewavescrashing · 11/10/2020 17:57

Yes I love it.

Pedallleur · 11/10/2020 18:10

Yes. Coffee, no messing about. Starbucks pods are made by Nespresso and are v.good. often discounted in supermarket by a few pence.

juneybean · 11/10/2020 18:23

Yes! I got mine last christmas and with working from home due to covid I still feel like I get my "takeout" coffee every day. I bulk buy the Starbucks pods on amazon on subscribe and save.

I got the bundle with the aerrocino from ao.com.

Belle1983 · 11/10/2020 18:26

Absolutely worth it!
I actually bought a 2nd hand one and got years of use. Saved a fortune on buying coffees.

Also, Nespresso have deals on at times. I got a new one essentially free this summer as I got £25 back in subscription and loads of pods.

siddlydiddly · 11/10/2020 18:27

Yes I've had my machine for 5 yrs now and use it every day, just 1 cup a day but it's so worth it.

Witchlight · 11/10/2020 19:35

It is particularly worth it if you only have 1 or 2 cups a day. The coffee from the pods always have that “just opened” taste and smell.

I love illy coffee, but only the first two days coffee. Even in the fridge, it tastes a bit stale after a couple of days. I always end up throwing the bottom half of the tin out.

If you drink several cafetières a day ( 6 cups plus) something like Illy wins.

Have had mine for 7 years and it is still great!

mbosnz · 11/10/2020 19:36

Yup, totally worth it. One way to get a consistently decent coffee.

Rollergirl11 · 11/10/2020 19:46

Absolutely. I got a Nespresso Vertuo Plus last Christmas and it’s the best thing I’ve ever bought! I have one or two cups a day. I actually took it away with us when we went on our UK holiday as I couldn’t bear the thought of being without it for a week!

isthismylifenow · 11/10/2020 19:57

Yes use mine each day too. I def recommend getting the aerochino as well.

MrsKingfisher · 11/10/2020 20:12

I'm going for an original mini machine, sadly no pumpkin spice in the original capsules though.

I wish I had done this!
LoeliaPonsonby · 13/10/2020 10:07

Yes, it’s used several times a day here for consistently good coffee. I really enjoy coffee but cannot be doing with the faff of grinding my own, pissing about with grinds/Aeropresses/ portafilters. I used to do all of that now life is too short. There are loads of 3rd party capsules available now too.

If I were to upgrade it would be to a bean to cup machine.

WitchesNStuff · 13/10/2020 10:13

I love my nespresso machine, I had tassimo for years but wanted a change. The coffee is nicer than tassimo, I tend to buy the green starbucks one or the costa pods, there are some really good varieties, I only drink black coffee so didn't get the milk frother one.

Even the large cups it makes are a bit small but I like strong coffee and find that even using extra water still tastes good.

BaronessEllaSaturday · 13/10/2020 10:38

Big latte drinkers here, we have the lattisimo touch machine with the milk cartridge that sits in the fridge. There is no comparison and it's one of only 2 pieces of kitchen equipment that would be replaced the same day if they went wrong.

EPPM · 13/10/2020 10:43

The environmental impact of all these single use pods is horrific.
Some can be recycled, but not using them at all would be far, far better, particularly when there are literally hundreds of models of coffee maker that do not require pods.

Don't even get me into the whole nestle thing.

MrsPnut · 13/10/2020 10:47

I love mine so much I took it to France on holiday, along with the milk frother.

I buy capsules from Nespresso mostly and they collect the recycling at the same time but the supermarket ones are pretty good too.

utterflapdoodle · 13/10/2020 11:17

I got one in March when I started working from home. I just have two a day on work days. I wouldn't be without it now.

I'm quite fussy with coffee but find the quality is great and there is a wide range of capsules to choose from. Really great tasting decaff too, you almost can't tell the difference.
