Mlmers taking over social media

Hi all

Just looking for a safe place really to have a little moan 😬🙈.

I feel like MLM'ers are taking over social media. It used to be a great place to connect with friends and family. Especially useful for me as I have a lot of family in different parts of the world.

But it just feels like everytime I log on someone is flogging some kind of get rich quick scheme and trying to recruit others.

I've fallen out with a friend over her trying to recruit me and expecting me to buy her expensive products. Her argument- I'm buying the items anyway so why wouldn't I buy them off her and help her succeed". Well the items I buy are like £4 hand cream and she is selling £15 hand cream. I just would never spend that kind of money on products in a shop. I feel like she's been totally sucked in and will loose all her money.

Then the juice plus'ers all over fb. Selling their health tablets. It just sounds like a load of nonsense to me.

I just wondered if anyone else is having the same? How have you helped your friends out of these schemes?

No hate on this post please. ✌. Just hate seeing my friends and family sucked into these schemes. Xx

I would unfollow or unfriend TBH! I haven't noticed any uptick in it on my SM though.

I agree.
I find the lottery style ones really irritating....buy a lottery ticket win shit prize i don't want, the businesswoman gets three times as much for selling tickets to friends and family.....

That's not a job or useful business

From what I can tell from reading about this stuff, you can't make someone leave until they're personally ready to leave. It's like leaving a cult, or being an addict - people are most successful at leaving when they have personally acknowledged a problem and have decided to leave for themselves.

On Facebook your can unfollow someone without unfriending them.

tectonicplates · 12/10/2020 00:47

Apparently there's been an increase in this stuff this year due to so many people losing their jobs and being short of money. They're really taking advantage.

Shit knock off perfume is the one I see regular now. I just unfollow, they make me cringe.

The ones holding raffles are doing so illegally if they don't have a gaming license (unlikely). You can report them.

jenniuol · 12/10/2020 03:45

Oh god the ones doing my head in just now are the folk selling that lumi face gadget. Every other person on Instagram has been selling them and doing long rambling stories while they use it on their face 🤦🏻‍♀️ The click click click drives me mad. Unfollowed the lot of them.

You can unfollow people, so you are still friends but their posts don't appear in your feed. They won't know you've done this, so it avoids fallouts.

I'm getting so annoyed with all the posting fake life styles.

My friend said its just to get more people to buy into the product and sign up. I told her that is basically fraud. She was posting pics of designer bags, make up etc. Saying you can have this lifestyle too. I feel like they are intentionally defrauding people for money by selling a fake lifestyle.

Nice to see some like minded people. I'm getting fed up with social media and "hun girls".

So annoying every selling page is now people selling & "recruiting" people to these schemes. Argh!!

Thanks for the rant xx
