Is there a cheaper option than buying the canon inks or are they all the same price/quality?

I have an HP instant ink printer. Cost about £35 and came with a six month free trial. You pay a subscription and they post the ink out as you need it. Works out very reasonable for us think it's £5 a month for 100 pages but you can pay more it less depending on what you need. Plus we never run out of ink!

Oh that sounds like great value! I wonder if canon do a similar option. I’ll investigate that. Thanks.

Choice Stationery Think compatible inks were recommended by Which consumer magazine. I've used them in my Canon printer for years.

Thanks @CustardySergeant!

HP instant ink is life changing. I never worry about how much I print or if it's colour or not. The printer orders ink when it needs it and the cartridges are recycled.

I buy my canon ink from Amazon. I don't risk compatible inks as last time I did it literally broke my printer, the real stuff is cheap enough.

I buy HP refilled inks from Tesco. Pretty sure it voided the warranty on the printer but it was a £30 printer so I didnt really care.

The instant ink subscription is good if you consistently print at home and know roughly how many pages your print a month. If you choose a 100 page a month subscriptions but end up going over it, you get charged for that. Or if you dont print anything for 3 months, you're still paying the subscription.

I printed stuff out once in a blue moon, like confirmations for bookings or whatever, then at the start of lockdown, I printed 700 pages in 2 weeks (organising all the kids homeschool work) instant ink would have been no use to me for that.

I also use HP Instant Ink. Never have to worry about ink because it’s always here! I pay £2.49 per month. I think I get 50 pages for that but I can amend it one month if we have a big project to print for and then amend it back for the month after. Never worry about the printer and ink again!

HP ink here too. such a brilliant way. I used to pay more in inks than the printer (epson) was worth

I've found Amazon to be the cheapest.

Smallsteps88 · 12/10/2020 08:49

Thanks everyone.

@Doubletrouble99 that’s what I’m finding too in my searches.

I use instant ink now but have used the cartridge people previously and they were pretty good
