Mask Wearing = Increase In Spots?

Anyone else finding this? I've suddenly got loads of spots on my chin and lower face. I have to wear a mask most days for work, for long periods of time.

Try a different mask type? Maybe you're sensitive to something in the one you're using at the moment.

It hasn't happened to me but it is common, have read lots of articles.

Yes.

When I first started working in cath labs and operating theatres I got loads, your skin does seem to get used to it though and in a couple of weeks I was OK.

Yes, definitely! Loads of spots on my chin 😷. I work in the NHS and have to wear the blue ones so can't try out others. I've never really suffered with them, even as a teenager. Its a catch 22 cos the mask covers them but the mask is causing them 🙈

eurochick · 11/10/2020 07:26

Yep. I've had awful mask spots.

FrenchFancie · 11/10/2020 07:31

No, but I’m fortunate in that I can wear cloth masks at work and I was them in sensitive skin non bio liquid and give them an extra rinse.
I have a colleague who always wears the blue disposable ones and she has said hers gives her spots

Yes i have, I've had to stop putting make up on my chin and I dab on tea tree and witch hazel frequently. I also use a tt and wh face mask weekly. This has worked for me!

fairydustandpixies · 11/10/2020 07:44

Yes, me too! I'm actually glad of the mask now to hide them!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 11/10/2020 07:47

My son's cystic acne has re-emerged after being under control for ages mainly under his mask.

Blankiefan · 11/10/2020 08:39

It's a thing - google maskne!

Doje · 11/10/2020 08:56

Me too. Not spotty, but I've got a bit of irritable skin in my chin that has flared up. The last time it did this was after I had DS1 6 years ago.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 11/10/2020 08:58

I have to wear one for 12 hour shifts and my chin is spottier than when I was a hormonal teenager Hmm

ProudAuntie76 · 11/10/2020 09:00

I keep getting big boils on the areas which the mask covers (smaller spots on chin, big ones on the side). I can only wear the blue disposable ones.
