Pinata fillers - not sweets - for my own kids (so not too much plastic tat)

DS wants a pinata for his bday - he will be 5 and his siblings are 7 and 9. It will just be for the three of them (and me and DH) as no party this year, Any ideas for things I can put in - not sweets ideally and we just have so much plastic tat.

Not sure I’ve seen a piñata without any sweets. How about glow sticks, party poppers, yo-yos?

Lego figures
Funky pens
Hot choc sachets
Fluffy socks for winter

I'm not anti sweet, just they'll have massive halloween stash I'm sure so would like other stuff. Party poppers great idea. also glow sticks

Well a piñata without sweets kind of defeats the whole point!

Stickers / packs of crayons?

The hole to get stuff into is usually pretty small...

RomaineCalm · 10/10/2020 22:41

Blueberries? Smile

I can't think what else that hasn't been mentioned.

Is it possible that DS wants a piñata because he thinks it'll be full of sweets. Will he be awfully disappointed if it's socks and crayons instead?

To be honest I'd go for wrapped sweets that can be squirrelled away for when the Halloween stash runs out.

Temporary tattoos

I went to a kids party in Mexico once and the pinata had loads of low value coins in it (as well as a load of sweets).
They don't take up much space, but at least you cut down on the plastic and they could put the coins towards a single item of plastic tat Grin

Pansypath · 10/10/2020 23:40

Tattoos and coins a great idea.

Yes, will put some sweets - but three kids only so don't need as many as you would get in a party pinata

How about those light up balloons (uninflated of course!) you can buy in tesco etc

Some individual jokes printed out

Practical jokes

Stickers

Confetti

Lol just give them sweets and plastic tat. They'll be happy as Larry.

Mini bath bombs

Or could you fill it with those polystyrene chips (if you have any) and in amongst them hide a wrapped up clue for each kid. They have to find their clue then follow it to find one, bigger prize? I’m with you on this - I don’t want anymore sweets or plastic tat but a piñata is fun!

Pound coins
Packets of chalks
Balloons
Lego men
Playmobil people
