Has anyone left Facebook?

And if so do you miss it? I hardly go on it any more and especially with the new layout, just feel like I don't enjoy it, get fed up with all the fake behaviour on there and the BS. I'm tempted to just leave. The only thing keeping me is a couple of friends who've moved abroad, but then we've not been in touch on there for years anyway.
Just wondered if anyone else has left and if they are glad or regret it?

My account is still active because I have loads of photos on there -I keep meaning to go on to save them to the cloud-I love being away from it. I did miss it initially, as I used to be on there every day feeling the need to like people’s holiday snaps/school pictures, it’s a relief not to see all the drama tbh.

I left about 7 years ago, I have subsequently lost contact with friends who moved abroad and only use Facebook but other than that I don’t miss the friend side of it.

I had to rejoin for my business (used different email) and I find the ability to use groups and sell via marketplace really useful, have zero friends which is great!

If you “leave” you can log back in and everything is as you left it, at least it used to be like that.

I would love to leave, but feel invested as it has so many family photos, but pretty much hate it.

HappyThursdays · 10/10/2020 17:41

I left years ago and have never regretted it

I have family abroad and I don't get as many photos or updates but other than that, there's nothing I don't miss

I had something like 600 friends and I probably only ever saw 10 regularly in real life

I was getting frustrated with it and people were getting frustrated with me because I didn't respond quick enough to posts etc

Just leave. If fb is the only contact you have with people, it's not much of a friendship. If you don't want to lose them, send them your details and keep in touch another way.

Eldest DD (20s) has left. Left about 3 years ago actually. Everyone she's ever mentioned it to says they're jealous Confused

(i only use it to look at our hilarious village community site)

I left ages ago and feel better for it. Infact I was looking for details of my gym instructor when lock down hit as she started doing online classes and found her on Facebook which linked me back to my old account, and what a depressing story it was.

PatchworkElmer · 10/10/2020 17:47

I’ve deactivated my account for a break as was getting really fed up with it. Astonished to report that I don’t miss it at all. Not sure I’ll reactivate.

MMM2 · 10/10/2020 17:48

Left 18 months ago and don't even think about it now.

BlackberrySky · 10/10/2020 17:49

I cut down massively during lockdown. I go on once a week, mainly for brands, venues and events I follow, as I find it useful for that. I don't post any more, and whilst I am still friends with everyone I was before, I have unfollowed most so my feed is mainly events and venues. This is a good comprise for me.

WWYD2020 · 10/10/2020 17:50

Yep and insta.
Now I enjoy my life much more.

I get really angry when I see people out and about glued to their phones scrolling endlessly through things offered up to them purposely to make them stay glued to their phones.

Wake up.

Me too. It gives way too much comedy to ever be able to leave

BeBraveAndBeKind · 10/10/2020 19:28

Yes, left and didn't miss it at all.

If the only thing stopping anyone leaving is losing photos/messages, there's a functionality to download everything on to your laptop at the click of a button and it even separates it into folders for you.

strawberriesandpecans · 10/10/2020 20:36

Thanks to all of you for the comments Brew it has helped me make up my mind just to leave. I feel like it'll be a relief.
