Instagram: help me to understand 'link in bio'

When people or companies show stuff I'm interested in or want to know the price of this drives me mad. What is bio? Will I find a link to that actual item or do they mean a link to a general blog or what?

I don't get it . Why send potential customers round in circles, I can never find the actual link, I'm not sure what bio even is.

No doubt I'll crack it one day then pity the fools who haven't worked it out yet.

bio - biography - the bit of blub they say what/who they are

You cannot put a clickable link in the caption of an Instagram picture. The only place you can is in your bio.
To get to someone’s bio, you need to tap on their username, and the clickable link will be in the top few lines of writing, above their pictures.

The bio is a written piece under the persons name, like a description.

So some might say:

Mother to xyz

Some might have some corny inspirational quote, and those with businesses usually put a link to their website.

Instagram doesn’t allow you to put clicky links on your post so everyone gets around it by having one clicky link under their profile pic / biography which has all the clicky links they want to send you too

I'm glad someone asked this, I spent ages looking for a bloody link in a bio the other day, trying to get a freebie that was offered. I gave up in the end. I have no clue what a bio is or how to find it (until now!)

Makes more sense now that I know links to products aren't allowed. I usually find that the link in (what I know is the) bio takes me to the general website, not the specific product.

As for stories, I'm not going there. Pictures you can't pause whizzing by pointlessly.

Hold the picture and it stops.

Hold your finger on the screen to pause it. Swipe either way to go back or forward through users to get to the next story. Tap either edge of the screen to get to the next or previous story of that one user.
