What age for bigger portions?

DD is 7 - up to now she has had a small plate for her dinner. I realise it's a continuum and that her plate will eventually be so full we will need to move her to a regular dinner plate but that it shouldn't be as full as the ones we eat as adults straightaway.
But at what age would you expect a child to be eating same portion size as adults? (Assuming she is a normal active child, happy doing exercise or sport after school but not to any kind of elite level)
A few comments have been said by not so close family that she needs fattening up and we don't feed her enough and although I am sure she is healthy I want to sense check portion sizes...

When they are hungry enough for it?
My DD3 has occasionally eaten more than me at a main meal!
I suspect around 8-11 years? When hormones kick in.
