Ostrich eggs

Right, I am about to ask the oddest question, but am hoping the MN hive mind can help!

Does anyone know where I can get an ostrich egg (for eating) this week or next. Ideally in the Lincs/Notts/S York's/Derbys area but further afield is ok. It's for a birthday present (I've not gone rogue it has been asked for).

I think I'm in a hiding to nothing as Google tells me it is not ostrich egg season (who knew there was a season?!)

Any help gratefully received

Waitrose were selling them a while back, not sure if they still are.

There not in stick now 😢 I really think I'm on a hopeless mission!

All I can find is a place in slough that’s selling them.

Oooh! ! Tell me more please. Is there a link?

Not helpful, but we bought and ostrich egg in Margaret River in Western Australia when we lived there. Makes a great omelette but lots of loose shell.

Have checked Fortnums and Harrods.....no joy

Have found and will follow up today on Oslinc and another one in Rutland.....will let you know if I have any luck.

Glad to know they taste good......I have no idea how he intends to cook it......that's his problem 😂😂😂

I've seen them in Selfridge's food hall before.

Thank you all for your help. Have spoken to several different places and all confirmed that ostrich egg season ends August/Sept and starts up again in April/May (it is too cold for them to lay now). I even looked at whether I could import one but that was a no-no too.

Looks like it's an IOU for an ostrich egg in his card 😂
