Bank transfers from USA to UK

Hi all

Does anyone know anything about bank transfers from the USA to the U.K.?

A payment was supposedly sent to me (a refund) from a company in the USA late last week (Thursday/Friday).

Obviously most bank transfers within the U.K. are instant but this payment still hasn’t arrived in my account. I am aware they can take quite a bit longer and have read that they can sometimes go through a number of accounts before they get here. Not sure why.

So does anyone have any experience of this and how long transfers normally take?
