I feel like I'm boring and always order the same (roast duck Cantonese style and egg fried rice) need some inspiration!!

What's your go to when you order a Chinese?

Salt and pepper squid

King prawns in black bean sauce

bibs124 · 07/10/2020 22:08

I always order the same and mine is much more boring than yours!

Chicken chow mein
Sweet and sour chicken balls
Mini vegetable spring rolls

Skybooks · 07/10/2020 22:09

Hot and sour soup and Singapore chow mein are my faves but king po prawns (or any meat) is lovely too

Usually one of curry veg, satay veg, shredded beef or shredded chicken with egg fried rice.

Nothing terribly adventurous really.

MondeoFan · 07/10/2020 22:10

Crispy Shredded Chilli Beef
Beef Chow Mein
Curry Sauce

Bunnybigears · 07/10/2020 22:11

Beef in black bean sauce with added cashew nuts and bamboo shoots
House Special Egg Foo Young
Crispy Seaweed and Prawn Toast
DH and I share the beef and Egg Foo Young between us, the black bean sauce makes it extra tasty.

MostDisputesDieAndNoOneShoots · 07/10/2020 22:13

Favourites in this house are:

Salt and pepper squid
Chicken satay
Singapore rice noodles
Pancake roll
Duck and pancakes

WeAllHaveWings · 07/10/2020 22:15

Strips of beef (grilled and sliced) in a hot peking sauce. Amazing.

FlorrieMango · 07/10/2020 22:16

Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style
Egg fried rice
Mini vegetable spring rolls

AnyFucker · 07/10/2020 22:16

Crispy duck
Prawn toast
Special fried rice or special chow mein
Curry sauce

Shangrilaa · 07/10/2020 22:16

Salt and chilli prawns
Chicken with ginger and spring onions
BBQ pork
Prawn toast
Chicken chow mein
Special fried rice
Duck in pancakes

Not all at once! (Usually)

ODFOx · 07/10/2020 22:24

Between 4 of us: mixed starters for two, one large rice, one large noodle, beef and peppers with black bean sauce, duck in Szechuan pepper sauce, bean sprouts and bamboo shoots with broccoli in garlic.

rosesandcashmere · 07/10/2020 22:24

Shredded crispy chilli beef
Roast pork fried rice
Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style or Kung Po chicken
Prawn toast
Or just a prawn curry and egg fried rice if I'm feeling dirty... sometimes Singapore noodles. We love it all!

spookmeout · 07/10/2020 22:25

Salt and pepper ribs (no batter)
Vietnamese chow mein
Or
Sweet and sour with egg fried rice
Or
Chicken and pineapple with egg fried rice.
There's always a portion of chips, ostensibly for DC but I eat them too!

AgreeableEagle · 07/10/2020 22:28

Satay chicken
Quarter crispy duck pancakes
Chicken "Chinese style" from my old takeaway (omg it was so amazing)
Shredded chilli beef or beef in black bean sauce from current takeaway

Still the worst part of moving away from my old house was leaving the old Chinese takeaway down the road!

Shannith · 07/10/2020 22:33

Crispy duck and pancakes which I now want to order to eat the crazy tic tok way.

NancyBotwinBloom · 08/10/2020 08:20

Chicken satay starter

Crispy chilli beef

Sui mais

gingerbreadfox · 08/10/2020 08:42

Did anyone use to buy the banana or pineapple fritters for dessert?!!

Used to love them. Our current Chinese doesn't do them Sad

BaublesAndGlitter · 08/10/2020 08:47

Chicken fried rice
Roast pork chow mien
Shredded beef with chilli (known as crispy beef here)
S&S chicken balls
Curry sauce
Chips
This comes with either dry ribs or mini veg spring rolls for free.

This is between 2 of us with enough left over for the pair of us the next day. I don't like chow mien or curry and DH doesn't like rice or crispy beef so it seems we buy a lot.

KitKatastrophe · 08/10/2020 08:47

I love kung po chicken (or prawn). It can vary a lot between different places but generally is a spicier version of sweet and sour Hong Kong style, with cashew nuts. Yum!

Also love crispy duck but cant bring myself to pay for it at the chinese. We usually buy the oven ready version from the supermarket.

Bluesheep8 · 08/10/2020 10:26

Definitely - half a crispy duck and pancakes is less than £5 in Aldi. It's £15 in our local Chinese

Bluesheep8 · 08/10/2020 10:26

And there is no difference!

sueelleker · 08/10/2020 10:43

Chicken with cashew nuts, and a side of mushrooms.

TeenTraumaTrials · 08/10/2020 10:50

We go for a set meal for 2 plus an extra dish and that feeds all 4 of us, so

2 portions of BBQ spare ribs (I miss the red sauce of my youth but our local one's sauce is excellent)
Sweet and sour chicken cantonese style (DS's fave)
Chicken satay or kung po
Beef with green peppers in black bean sauce or with spring greens
2 fried rice

And then the extra dish is veg chow mein with thin noodles

Plus it comes with prawn crackers and the above mentioned banana fritter (which we have with whippy cream from a tin!!)

Fleamaker123 · 08/10/2020 10:57

What happened to that red sauce?? Nowhere seems to do it any more.

Salt and pepper ribs
Chicken in garlic and chilli
Singapore vermacelli
Special fried rice
Chips
Extra bbq sauce

I could eat it right now.
