QuentinWinters · 07/10/2020 21:23

@SoddingWeddings
I bought one last week and the pre order date said end November. It arrived yesterday

Elisheva · 07/10/2020 23:00
I’ve got a cheaper version, I think it cost around £30, and it’s wonderful. Very soft and fluffy and lovely and big. I love it.
LightDrizzle · 07/10/2020 23:01
I just don’t get it. They look hideous and they are synthetic. The margin on them must be enormous.
I don’t like their use of words like “flannel” and “fleece” either, which I think are deliberately suggestive of natural fibres like wool or cotton. You have to click on the “Questions” tab and scroll down to the penultimate question to find out what they are actually made of.
Give me a wool poncho, blanket or giant cotton hoodie any day for preference.
Obviously I’d buy one for a family member if it was their heart’s desire, but I’m puzzled by their popularity.

Me and DD (8) got gifted them by my lovely OH for Xmas last year. Best presents ever although I had no idea they were so pricey! We have them in a lovely charcoal grey
Kolsch · 07/10/2020 23:23
I didn't know what an oodie was, so i googled it.
I found to my surprise that it's a garment exactly the same as i made for myself out of a fleece blanket, some 15 years ago!!
I can't believe people are paying so much for something so simple and cheap to make!
JacobReesMogadishu · 07/10/2020 23:28
I wanted one but couldn’t wait till Nov so it’s a shame if their dates on the website are wrong because I bought a £22 version off Amazon instead which should be arriving tomorrow.
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 07/10/2020 23:39
@TerribleCustomerCervix excellent, it’ll add to the comedy value
nicky2512 · 07/10/2020 23:46
Dd (18) lives in hers. She’s usually v cold. She’s getting another for Christmas.
No way could I stick one - I would be far too warm.
Missc2001 · 07/10/2020 23:49
@Elisheva where did you buy the cheaper version if you don’t mind me asking?
fantasmasgoria1 · 08/10/2020 00:37
My Fiancés DD has a cheaper £20 version and absolutely loves it.
mummabear74 · 08/10/2020 00:41
I've been wondering on the sizing, length wise. DS is 6 foot so can see it half way up his thighs. Shame they don't do longer lengths.
WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 08/10/2020 00:52
Is it not just a glorified blanket ? 🤔
SmokeMirrors · 08/10/2020 01:10
Recommendations on the cheap versions PP! We need links!
Umbridge34 · 08/10/2020 01:25
I love mine. Best cost lounge type thing I've ever bought. We bought a family pack (tou can all choose a different pattern) that brought the price down to £37 each i think. Still expensive but so worth it.
I'm a size 20, 5ft 10. It comes to just above my knees and is huge on me.

Mine is the Sienna Hoodie off Amazon, £22.99. I can't seem to get a url as am using the app, sorry.
It's soft and fleecy but I could house a to ring circus inside.
QuentinWinters · 08/10/2020 08:00
I ordered the mega family pack. Am a sucker for a discount! Thanks for all the positive comments
Tollergirl · 08/10/2020 08:29
Great- just what the world needs- more plastic! Unless you're buying from a company that uses recycled plastic to make your fleece it's more pollution to add to the world.
The cognitive dissonance in society never ceases to amaze me!! David Attenborough gains more followers on Instagram and then these things become popular!!!! More and more plastic that is totally unenvironmentally friendly. Love the website where it states that they're cruelty free - I guess destroying the planet and polluting the world with micro plastics isn't cruel?????
HibiscusNell · 08/10/2020 08:58
These are made of 100% POLYESTER 🤮🤮🤮
They MADE IN CHINA
It's not even a UK company
They are expensive for what they are
I do not get the appeal. 🤷🏻♀️
The company is good at marketing and getting mentions on social media. I've seen a good few threads about them but don't get what the hype is about.

These are nice from Dunelm, but only cover the top half ....
emptyshelvesagain · 08/10/2020 09:26
@HibiscusNell
Why are you shouting about them being made in China? Lots of things we use daily are made in China.
MoonJelly · 08/10/2020 09:27
I made myself a crochet oversized chunky shrug - a bit like this - which I suspect is similarly effective. It probably isn't any cheaper, but I enjoyed making it so win-win.
