That one of the main predators of the moose....is the orca?

That’s right. Moose dive deep down to get to the vegetation on the floor...and then get eaten by a killer whale Grin

What’s your amazing fact?

yes I know I’m going to get pineapples don’t grow on trees and baby vests roll down etc etc

Whaaaat?

SoupDragon · 07/10/2020 13:08

On your fuel gauge is a little arrow telling you which side your filler cap is on

🤣🤣😂🤣

dudsville · 07/10/2020 13:08

That's blown my mind. I didn't know that!

MineMineADouble · 07/10/2020 13:09

Figs are not suitable for vegetarians!

DH told me this recently as we've got a fig tree in the garden of our new house and he'd been doing some Googling Smile

SoupDragon · 07/10/2020 13:09

Seriously though, I did not know moose were at risk from killer whales.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 07/10/2020 13:09

Mind. Blown. Poor moose...

AriettyHomily · 07/10/2020 13:11

What's wrong with figs?!?

BarbaraofSeville · 07/10/2020 13:12

I didn't know about the moose but as a scuba diver I can relate to this cartoon.

I did see a cormorant several metres under water once, when it dived down to catch a fish. That was pretty cool.

SoupDragon · 07/10/2020 13:16

@AriettyHomily

What's wrong with figs?!?

Technically, they contain dissolved dead wasp due to the fertilisation process.
Ernieshere · 07/10/2020 13:17

My petrol picture is not on the correct side Sad

Soubriquet · 07/10/2020 13:31

Yes, figs have a female fig wasp inside that die causes causes the fig to ripen.

This always comes up and it totally depends on your car, it's not a universal “fact”

That cartoon! And the last picture of the wee guy GrinGrin

Wow. Learnt two things today!!
Soubriquet · 07/10/2020 14:08

That cartoon always makes me laugh

I think I would be pretty freaked out to be scuba diving and suddenly seeing an orca eating a moose

That would be why I added the laughing emojis.

TheOrchidKiller · 07/10/2020 14:46

I'm just picturing a moose in scuba gear, with the goggles strapped to its antlers Smile

Except this 'fact' isn't really true. Orca have been known to very occasionally take a swimming or grazing moose but they certainly aren't one of their main predators.

Moose do however sometimes graze underwater and are adept at diving which is pretty cool

I did not know that OP
And I live in Canada (not near the sea tho)

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 07/10/2020 14:57

Round here cars and guns kill the moose Sad

SoupDragon · 07/10/2020 15:04

Oh no... I know loads of useless shit!

For example, black plastic can't be recycled simply because the sorting machines can't see it. The sorting machines use a beam of light which is just absorbed by the black and it falls through the machine and ends up in landfill.

dudsville · 08/10/2020 20:56

So, inside each and every fig is a dissolved wasp? How have wasps not evolved to avoid this? How do fig groves not kill off native populations of wasps to extinction? I'm off to Google "have I yet again succumbed to another urban myth?".
