How sad, I didn't realise he was ill.

He had throat cancer for a while

He maintained that holding metal guitar picks in his mouth gave him throat cancer. Not the millions of fags he smoked ...

I used to lend Jump to the lads I fancied in 1984. I owe Van Halen a fair few songs.

Some people I know grew up friends with the Van Halens as teenagers.. I wonder what kind of funerals are permitted nowadays in California.

I was so sad to read this! He was awesome....and so much of his music is on the soundtrack to my life. he seemed an awesome, sweet and relatable guy - loved that big happy smile!!! RIP Eddie and thank you for the memories and the tunes :)
