We have never done kids' dinners in our house. DD has always just eaten whatever we eat.

Favourites when she was younger included just about any kind of pasta dish, roast veg with quinoa, spinach and paneer curry, dahl, fried rice etc.

40somethingJBJ · 04/10/2020 01:05

Ds, now 14, has favourites of lasagne, hunters chicken, gammon, egg and chips, macaroni cheese, chicken and chorizo paella, toad in the hole, fajitas/enchiladas/burritos/tacos (he loves Mexican!), tuna pasta bake, omelettes and pizza. Apart from the recent addition of the paella, he’s always liked the others. There’s just me and him, so I’ve never done separate kids meals.

My 3 year old sons top 5 favourite dinners would be -

Garlic prawns with rice
Pad see ewe noodles
Xiao long bao dumplings with spring onion pancakes
Chicken korma with garlic naan

He’s fussy and it’s annoying! Would love it if he ate spaghetti or fish fingers or something easy

I make chicken nuggets with panko breadcrumbs and they would eat those every day if I let them!
Other than that:
macaroni cheese
roast dinners
salmon (usually with couscous or pasta)
full English breakfast!

Am guessing hoping this is tongue in cheek Grin

Here we have:
Tuna pasta
Meatballs in tomato sauce (with rice or spaghetti)
Jacket potato with ham and cheese
Pizza wrap
Fish, chips and peas.

ceeveebee · 04/10/2020 08:59

Oh how could I have missed off pizza!! Swap the breakfast for that (although my DS favourite pizza topping is bacon!)

What is a pizza wrap? Is it pizza made with a tortilla? Sounds like something my kids would love!

Restlessinthenorth · 04/10/2020 09:08

My kids just eat whatever I've made but DSD, a different kettle of fish all together (and drives me nuts!), but will eat roast beef dinner (minus the veg), a beef or chicken burger, and spaghetti bolognaise, but will pick out anything that appears to look like veg/tomatoes. It's hard work!

ChristmasinJune · 04/10/2020 09:09

It's a recently discovered "fuck it" sort of tea and now a firm favourite.

Yes basically make a pizza on a wrap, you can use tomato purée or ketchup as a base, cheese then whatever toppings you have to hand, then cooks for 5-10 mins and rolls up as a wrap.

Portable too so we love them for food on the run.

AlwaysLatte · 04/10/2020 09:14

Roast dinner a couple of times a week
Chicken pie with leftover from roast
Macaroni cheese
Chicken paella
Slow cooked beef casserole & dumplings

LadyCatStark · 04/10/2020 09:15

Whatever we’re having but DS’s top 5 are a roast dinner, stew and dumplings, lasagne, fish pie and fish, chips and mushy peas.
