Here we go again you lovely lot, Thread 13.

Post some lyrics of a song 70s, 80s, 90s (boundaries may be slightly pushed either way). State the decade & we will try to guess Artist(s) and song.
@shinynewapple2020 your last two are Bloody Sunday by U2 and Manic Monday which was written by Prince for The Bangles.
Correct - and I didn't know that about Manic Monday

I’m here @TwigTheWonderKid!

I’ve realised this clue from the other day might have thrown everyone:

Originally 60s but covered by a more famous act in the 80s:
Just ride, ride, ride little pony ride.

FlouncerinDenial has correctly guessed it’s the Rolling Stones but I’ve probably made everyone think their version of the song is better known than the original. To clarify (or maybe to further confuse) the Rolling Stones are a more famous act than the people who did the original but the original is still the more well known version. Confused? I am...

Here’s a bit more:

Now come on baby
Now get into your slide
Just ride ride ride
Little pony, ride!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/10/2020 20:26

Evening all.

Go on over there turn on the light
No, all the lights
Come back here stand on that chair
Ooh baby, that's right

Originally 70s, numerous covers

An easy one, 70s

I, yes I love you and I think that you know
Do ya know
With your love light shining
Every clouds got a silver lining

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/10/2020 21:11

@ellie1967 Do you want to repost with a few more lyrics?

Is the ride ride ride little pony ride one Harlem Shuffle @FlouncingBabooshkaBabooshka?

Come back here stand on that chair might be You can leave your hat on? Can only think of Tom Jones.

NeedToKnow101 · 06/10/2020 21:40

1990s

When you are ready, I will surrender
Take me and do as you will
Have what you want, your way's always the best way

NeedToKnow101 · 06/10/2020 21:45

I get up and nothin' gets me down
You got it tough, I've seen the toughest around
And I know, baby, just how you feel
You got to roll with the punches and get to what's real

1980s (RIP)

FlouncerInDenial · 06/10/2020 21:59

Needtoknow that's van halen. Jump.

ellie1967 · 06/10/2020 21:59

Coffee a few more lines towards the end it’s a cruel wind that tears us apart but a worse thing is a tired and bitter heart so dry your eyes no more tears hold me once and I’ll walk out of here

I know the version by whatshisname who does that thing with his hands (love lift us up where we belong, etc). It was in 9 1/2 weeks
NeedToKnow101 · 06/10/2020 22:03

@FlouncerInDenial

Needtoknow that's van halen. Jump.
Correct! 🙌🏼❤️
NeedToKnow101 · 06/10/2020 22:04

@FlouncerInDenial - did Joe Cocker song that? (And do the hands thing?)

FlouncerInDenial · 06/10/2020 22:06

You all had a very weekly day yesterday!

FlouncerInDenial · 06/10/2020 22:08

I think it's his version in 9 1/2 weeks. Grim film, but I had the soundtrack on cassette so I know the songs quite well.

FlouncerInDenial · 06/10/2020 22:11

Needtoknow, I hadn't known Eddie van halen had died.
Just looked it up after your comment. I'm sad ☹

Loved Basinger and Rourke though. I think I thought it was the height of sexy edginess. What else is in the soundtrack?
FlouncerInDenial · 06/10/2020 22:34

Slave to love is probably the best known. And eurythmics is one.
Can't remember who else who is well known, but I used to like the cassette

FlouncerInDenial · 06/10/2020 22:34

I'm really in shock about Eddie van halen.
