I’ve realised this clue from the other day might have thrown everyone:

FlouncerinDenial has correctly guessed it’s the Rolling Stones but I’ve probably made everyone think their version of the song is better known than the original. To clarify (or maybe to further confuse) the Rolling Stones are a more famous act than the people who did the original but the original is still the more well known version. Confused? I am...

Slave to love is probably the best known. And eurythmics is one.
Can't remember who else who is well known, but I used to like the cassette
