OP, I cannot believe you’ve never watched ‘When Harry Met Sally’!! 😱

Forget all the other suggestions and crack on. Absolutely the finest romcom ever made, IMHO. Actually, forget humble, it is the best.

Justjoshin22 · 03/10/2020 18:54

the notebook! Love it and it has Ryan Gosling!

Spacecudet · 03/10/2020 18:58

I love When Harry Met Sally, it's my all time favourite.
Watched Jane Eyre this week, loved that as well x

There is a series by Dolly Parton - heartstrings I think. Each episode is based on one of her songs. Totally cheesy, but quite frankly the perfect thing for watching when youre in the mood for something slightly weepy / happy / feel good. PMT tv really.

Strokethefurrywall · 03/10/2020 19:00

Pitch Perfect 2. Favorite movie ever!

Hilarious, awesome vocals, rousing soundtrack and a cameo from the very delectable Clay Matthews... ding dong!

PrettyinPink80 · 03/10/2020 19:01

Watch a funny one. Blades of Glory or Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga 😂😂🤣🤣🤣, Will Ferrel is great

colouringindoors · 03/10/2020 19:03

If you've Not seen it then "When Harry met Sally " is just gorgeous 😊

colouringindoors · 03/10/2020 19:04

Starks is right

DizzyPigeon · 03/10/2020 19:04

Honestly, if you haven't started watching The Fall - don't. The first season really hooked me, but the last season wasn't good and the ending was disappointing. It felt like they dragged out the story when they could have spent more time on a satisfying ending.

I love Wild - based on a true story.
I like Begin Again - light film with decent music (surprised me as I don't usually like Keira Knightly, but Mark Ruffalo helps!)
Unorthodox is a series, but is really interesting to watch

Good luck in your quest!

Fightthebear · 03/10/2020 19:06

Another vote for Begin Again.

MrsGrindah · 03/10/2020 19:07

I can’t bear When Harry met Sally! It so funny isn’t it how people’s taste differ.

Whatsmydoggy · 03/10/2020 19:08

Inconceivable
Room

For a girlie film I love anything with Jennifer Aniston or Cameron Diaz. My all time favourite is The Other Woman

I have seen the Eurovision one twice now. It's hilarious
nitgel · 03/10/2020 19:10

Midnight cowboy is on there.

Blabla81 · 03/10/2020 19:13

Lion, if you haven’t seen it. One of the best films I’ve seen.

SummerHouse · 03/10/2020 19:19

If we are covering classics, Pretty Woman.

BitOfFun · 03/10/2020 19:19

I've slept through Lion twice now. It sounds great, but I guess it just wasn't for me.

When Harry Met Sally is a classic you shouldn't miss though. As is Thelma And Louise.

Somethingkindaoooo · 03/10/2020 19:22

The Way Way Back
Juno
About Time
Juliet Naked....

Yesterday I binge watched Emily in Paris...it has a Devil Wears Prada vibe

Oooh, Devil Wears Prada

😊😊

HotDiggidy2017 · 03/10/2020 19:25

@MissPoldark

Not a film but recently started watching The OA. I thought it was just some trash DH selected but it’s actually really good so far.

If you want a weepy romance The Notebook is on Netflix at the moment.

Omg so with you about the OA! Heartbroken they cancelled season 3 😭
Heisenberg17 · 03/10/2020 19:27

Room. It’s a must watch! Awesome!

MrsPerfect12 · 03/10/2020 19:33

I quite liked the gift.

NicholasTopliss · 03/10/2020 19:33

Ghost. Laughed and cried.

tothesea · 03/10/2020 19:35

I watched About Time last night from recommendations on here. I had always dodged it cos..well Richard Curtis ...and reviews are awful.
But it was lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

RonaRossi · 03/10/2020 19:36

Lion, if you haven’t seen it. One of the best films I’ve seen.

Totally agree...never watched a film before that has moved me quite so much.

Me, dh and dc aged 12 and 10 watched it together. The dc were reluctant at first...now even they will list is as one of their favourite ever films.

baubled · 03/10/2020 19:38

I love all the terrible but amazing rom coms, I've just found a few "fall" films which are just like the typical Hallmark channel Christmas ones but the couple fall in love over a pumpkin rather than a Christmas tree!

Emily in Paris is new on which was an easy watch series, or there's the new real life murder one about a mum and her two kids going missing, it's devastating!
