Do I want a Roomba or a Shark?

My old hoover is on its last legs so deciding what's next. A few years ago everyone was raving about Roomba, now its all shark - or is there something I've missed? Family of 3, 4 bed House, no pets. Would like lightweight due to being over three stories. Mixture of carpet and hard floors. Veering towards Roomba as I'm fundamentally lazy but worried it'll miss the edges. What should I buy?

There’s a few threads on here with lots of recommendations for eufy. I love mine.

I've never even heard of it! I'll take a look Smile

If you get a roomba you’ll need something else as well.

As far as I know. -

  1. roomba or other type would need one per floor and for the floor to be reasonable clear and tidy.
  2. can’t do stairs with a robot hoover.
  3. shark can cope with 1)&2)

I admit to having a shark (love it) and would love a roomba or similar, but suffer from 1) !

I love my Shark. The other type is a gimmick imo as you would need another Hoover for the nooks and crannies anyway!

I used to have a Roomba and looking to get another, more up to date one now. I would definitely still have a handheld hoover as well (we have a Dyson Animal).

I agree you need something else to hoover the stairs, but I just carry eufy upstairs and switch him on to do the bedrooms.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 03/10/2020 15:32

You definitely don’t need separate Robo-vacuums for up and downstairs, you just carry the same one up and down.

The house never gets particularly messy so I'm not worried about one for each floor. As I work from home I'm not bothered about carrying up and down stairs either. Those who have sharks - which model do you recommend?

Mine is a corded hand held which can also be an upright. Plenty big enough yet light and small. It’s 5+ years old.
Would either get again or the new cordless.

I would get an Eufy not a Roomba. We replaced our Eufy which broke after 2 years with the basic model Roomba which was twice the price, but I think the eufy did a better job. Then I'd also get a decent hand held hoover for the stairs - can't remember the make of mine but it's not brilliant so it doesn't matter as you certainly shouldn't buy it Grin

EnglishGirlApproximately · 03/10/2020 15:58

@rookiemere I will try not to buy the unnamed hoover Grin I don't really want to buy two things so now veering towards a shark. I honestly hadn't thought of the stairs issue Blush
