I'm listening to dd in her bedroom, with the door closed, trying to perfect her Geordie accent...just for fun. She is surprisingly good! Grin

What's happening in your house?Smile

That’s cute

Amy drying off from the rain

Eminybob · 03/10/2020 12:56

Does she have a specific reason for wanting to speak geordie?

Nap fighting ds2 is pottering about. Every now and then he’ll hop up on to the sofa, look like he’s about to drift off, then shake himself awake again (no point even bothering to try and actually put him down in his bed it’s a fight I don’t need right now)
Ds1 is looking at his tablet.
We have abandoned any idea of leaving the house today it’s miserable.

AlexaShutUp · 03/10/2020 12:57

It's grim out there today, Aridane, isn't it?

No, she just likes the sound of it. Smile

Yep - waited as long as I could to see if rain would ease but in the end had to go ahead. Still, social distancing wasn’t a problem Wink

Ds is watching "gaming with kev" on the telly. I'm Mumsnetting next to him. He is on isolation due to close contact at school!Sad

Dh and dd have gone to collect us all a McDonald's.

She needs to watch some episodes of auf wiedersehen pet

WanderingMilly · 03/10/2020 13:05

Oh this reminds me of years ago when my daughter went to Durham for University....came home and I couldn't understand her any more! Did you know you can get books written in "Geordie"?

Bunnybigears · 03/10/2020 13:06

DS1 is trying to persuade some of his friends to socially distance in the gym with him its not working. DS2 is plaging on the Xbox. I'm on my 5th load of washing still in PJs and culling my hot water bottle. DH is trying to fill in multiple holes left in the wall when we took some shelves down. The 3 cats and 1 dog are on the sofa snoring

I remember my sister reading that in the Radio Times and asking my mum what type of animal an “Orf weederzeen pet” was Grin

I’m currently Mumsnetting in my dressing gown while two children and DH watch YouTube - the other one upstairs watching Brooklyn 99 for the umpteenth time.

Great idea!

And no, I didn't know that there are books written in Geordie. Fab!

WanderingMilly ooh make sure you don't tell anyone from Durham you think they have a Geordie accent!!! Geordie is very specific to a very small area!

movingonup20 · 03/10/2020 13:09

We are studying the rain radar to see if there's a window of opportunity to dash to the pub for a pint and to buy some draft beer to bring back home - supporting the local economy and all thatGrin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 03/10/2020 13:10

You can get a Geordie Bible. It's quite thin. It's a good read even as an atheist.

Northumberlandlass · 03/10/2020 13:16

There is a ‘larn yersell geordie’ book & some great geordie song books etc.

I don’t know if The Baltic’s shop is online too, but they have some wonderful things geordie related

AdaColeman · 03/10/2020 13:25

Th' divvn't tork Geordie in Durham, hinny!

This sounds so cosy.

I'm sat in the car with two DC outside Burger King waiting for DH. Haven't been able to get DH to leave the house for any sort of exercise since March unless under duress. Just didn't want to.
A storm is raging today and he's announced that we all need to get out and go for a walk, so I've dug out all our wet weather gear and we're off to a local White Horse (I don't mind to be fair).
