ADs crave hotel breakfasts garnished with phallic strawberries

Oh for the good old days of a breakfast buffet.

Back when you could make plans and reasonably expect them to happen. When you could turn up spontaneously and browse or linger at your leisure. When you could meet whoever you like and give them a hug

But until those days return, here's some more AD chat about life, the universe and phallic fruits...

I am definitely feeling at the end of it today! So much negative press so little questioning! It feels like the public have gone we are defeated just punch us some more and when you stop we will be grateful! A friend who was very dementory even said today that the government is like a child in the pick n mix isle of woollies whilst looking at the science! That one looks nice ill take that one! Pretty much described it to me!!

justasking111 · 13/10/2020 23:29

Donald Trump made me laugh today, love him or loathe him he was such a showman today. He also looks better than he has looked in ages, I dont know what he is on but boy its working. He should send a few bottles to Boris whose hair is falling out now I noticed with shock when he was in the commons speaking you can see his scalp clearly.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/10/2020 23:33

I think a lot are feeling it at the moment. Other than the smunts who like squelching wholesomely through soggy leaves and being clonked on the head by the acorns crashing down Wink

@Howyoualldoworkme Thank You for your supportive comment. Very kind and means a lot Flowers Hope you had a lovely holiday in wonderful Italy. Where did you go?

TheOrchidKiller · 14/10/2020 00:31

I think Evenstar, that is what we do, we try to keep our own little boats afloat (although these threads have helped keep my little boat going, so a lot of other people have been my lifeboat).

Until the day when living in the moment isn't quite enough, & the boat wobbles, then rights itself again. And repeat.

Really must go to bed.

The Essex restrictions have tipped me over the edge. My family live on the edge of Essex, technically Suffolk but Essex postcode so not sure if they are included. If so I doubt I will be able to go and see them until next summer now. The thing is they are all in favour of the restrictions, just do as you're told and this will all be over sooner. Except it won't and I told them so. My mum in particular has always been one to overly respect authority. She had an NHS dentist a few years back take out the wrong tooth, didn't correct him at the time and didn't say anything after because 'I'm sure he was doing his best and we are very lucky to have NHS'. I shouldn't really have expected her to fight for her rights but DS is now 16 months. For his first 8 months she saw him 7 times between us going to them and them coming to us. Then she's seen him once since. I thought she would fight more to see him.

Not to mention whenever DS sees handsanitiser he mimes putting it on. He's a baby, this shouldn't be his reality. Why don't they see the damage this is causing.

Howyoualldoworkme · 14/10/2020 06:51

HeIenaDove Desenzano del Garda, just by the lake. We go there every year and wouldn't be stopped this year! Granny Killers on Tour! Wink
Off to the airport now, see you all back in Madland!

Well, here's interesting: www.facebook.com/welshgovernment/photos/a.287087867998975/4496396503734736/?type=3

Tests like this have a specificity and a sensitivity. So which one, or if neither, what, is this 99.91% referring to?

wanderings · 14/10/2020 07:22

@DominaShantotto Indeed it was! Two weeks means nothing, just like "we can turn this around in twelve weeks". It's going to be:
"Just another week..."
"Just another week..."
"Just another week month..."
And so on, playing for time, until:
"Ah, it's Christmas tomorrow, time to tell the public that we've saved Christmas; too bad they've all planned not to meet up!"
And the day after: "You all met up and spread the virus again, so it's lockdown again."

And now I see what's also happening with the great spin machine. Before Monday, Saint Boris's spin doctors got us all keyed up to anticipate something BIG. Then on D-Day, the blond haloed saint said "I've ruled out another national lockdown", to appear to be on our side; we ADs breathed a sigh of relief, and the D's started frothing. Now the headlines are saying "pressure grows on PM for short sharp lockdown" (which won't be short). We know how well Saint Boris withstands pressure, don't we? I'm sure his spin machine set this up, and probably bribed Kier Starmer and Sage to say their bit too. That way, Saint Boris can say "I was the one who didn't want the circuit breaker, but others insisted on it." Sigh. That's the only thing Saint Boris is capable of planning: passing the buck, and shifting blame to others.

It's this fucking with our heads all the time that's so immoral. It's a mess, and not because of the virus; because of the professional liars.

I really wish this wasn't the case but I fear you are right. Boris will cave and then we will all suffer another lockdown.

mightbealittlebitmad · 14/10/2020 07:41

So let's say they lockdown again, how long do they want it to go on this time? Are they going to pay those of us who can't work? What do we do when we come out of lockdown and things start rising again? We can't keep doing this long term so there needs to be another plan.

Stopping people from dying isn't possible, what we need to do is ensure people can be treated in an effort to stop it from happening. So how do we do this without screwing everything else up? This is what we need to be considering now because lockdowns are not the answer long term.

countrygirl99 · 14/10/2020 08:16

I don't want to worry anyone in North Hertfordshire but FIL has created chaos for the last 2 Christmas Eves with bonkers decision making. He has booked Christmas Day lunch in pub do you should assume Hitchin will be on tier 3 around the 23rd/24th.

IheartNiles · 14/10/2020 08:32

I’m sick of it. The usuals are agitating for lockdown. Most people I know in real life are very scared for their jobs and mortgages. But the vociferous are the lockdown enthusiasts. You can see from what happened in Liverpool overnight that the young people are exasperated by the restrictions. So you’ll get a situation where the economy is closed while people carry on socialising and spreading it. Sage knew that compliance with lockdowns would be short. What’s the fucking point of trying the same strategy??

Reedwarbler · 14/10/2020 08:32

Re Boris's hair falling out - how long before they say that, too, is a possible effect of covid?
We don't posess hand sanitiser at all. There was none available when all this started, but we had loads of ordinary bar soap at home, so that's what we use. I don't use sanitiser out unless I am requested to (like the dentists). I don't go round fiddling with my face or sucking my fingers, just wash when I get back in. Must say, I haven't even had a cold this year!
Feeling really fed up at the moment. I could just about put up with this until the spring, and emerge into the April sunlight like a glorious butterfly (like all you other butterflies!), but the thought of it going on for another year is beyond depressing. I still think we are being gaslighted (gaslit?) to a certain extent. Yes, students are putting up the numbers, but where are all these other people getting it? Is it mostly a case of hospital and institutional transmission?
Fortunately, the numbers here are still very low. We should be low risk, but, in order to ramp up the fear, there is no 'low risk'.

Evenstar · 14/10/2020 08:33

@TheOrchidKiller you are so right about these threads and the lovely people here, it feels like a safe space where we can say how we feel and be accepted. Thank you everyone 💐

Orangeblossom7777 · 14/10/2020 08:42

With the lockdowns, it feels like insanity- doing the same thing again and again despite it not working. Ending up with the wort of both worlds. It concerns me that already NI are shutting schools and Scotland and Wales seem to be agitating for lockdown along with Starmer who I thought seemed sensible but now just seems like a prat.

Orangeblossom7777 · 14/10/2020 08:44

And that Hanjob bloke going on about malaria and measles, comparing it, but they are not the same. When will they focus on the reality of it.

DominaShantotto · 14/10/2020 08:58

Bubble finally gone at the infant school at ours - so the juniors is likely to follow suit. I'm impressed we've made it to half term to be honest.

BogRollBOGOF · 14/10/2020 09:19

I don't know what state I'd be in without these threads. I love the natural conversational tone that meanders around.

There's plenty of times where I've wondered if I'm barking up the wrong tree just because of the sheer force of flow from the other side, but these discussions just make sense, and are balanced about the big picture and aren't tunnel visioned. They're dignified and nuanced and there's space to just say what's on your mind.

Yep definitely. Mind you a lot of my uni lecturers are really fucked off with it all as well - people were trying to figure out if they were allowed to travel in the other day and I summed it up with "is it fun = banned, is it not fun and work/school = allowed" and got agreed with by the staff.

We now have numbers on all the seats at uni and have to photograph our seat number as well as scan in on the uni QR code and the NHS one where those are in the areas shared with the general public.

Orangeblossom7777 · 14/10/2020 09:23

It does feel like a bit of a space to talk doesn't it.

Orangeblossom7777 · 14/10/2020 09:25

I have discovered something about those codes and the app. You can just click to delete them. You can also delete the app any time, and you can turn on and off the tracing thing. They are making us do it everywhere now.

BogRollBOGOF · 14/10/2020 09:26

I just want to know what the score is for half term. Is it worth looking for a caravan somewhere? Do I need to book the zoo? Or is it endless minecrafting and pokemon going through increasingly sludgy leaves?

If I do slap someone for mentioning autumn crafts, can I claim diminished responsibility? The only type of crafty my kids do is quietly sneaking back downstairs after bedtime to watch Pokemon until DH caught them at 11pm when he did the late night checks around the house.
They knew it was bad, they didn't moan about the tech ban yesterday, but god, I found it painful with them bouncing around for 5-6 hours with no quiet screen time, and my enthusiasm for badminton died after 15 minutes!

This is my worry too. However I notice a lot of dissonance from his on party and less consensus. In particular with regard Hanjob, they seem to be getting fed up with him.

Also the WHO are saying 'only as a last resort' and about the negatives as well (regarding the UK) Fingers crossed it won't happen. I don't think my mental health would cope.

BogRollBOGOF · 14/10/2020 09:30

I've deleted the app for now. I got fed up of being told off by red notifications for having my bluetooth off. I was at home most of the time FFS.
I'll save it for when I actually need it.
Most things I do are organised where my contact details are known on the system anyway and me/ DCs are registered in.
