HMRC scam call

I have just had an automated call from HMRC. Apparently there has been a fraud case started against me and if I don't press 1 right now, the police will be round to arrest me soon. I hung up.

I'm still waiting to be arrested

Had three in the last three days. From Derby, Manchester and London. Was it “Officer Dennis Grey”?

Me too. It was a Glasgow number, telling me that I was being investigated for tax fraud and a warrant would be issued for my arrest. That was three weeks ago and I’m still here...

I had this too. It's rife at the moment. I was rather bored at the time so I rang them back and asked them various questions. They hung up on me so I rang them back again. They ended up blocking my number.

I get one most week, if I go a week without, I feel 'Ghosted'

Unfortunately was a pre-recorded message so didn't get to speak to anyone.

I'm off to pick up DD from school now so they'll have to arrest DH instead who is working from home. Oh well.

Oh I'd love to talk to them. My day job involves peering into the tax affairs of others, so I could give them a few handy hints. Like HMRC isn't in the habit of letting you know you are being investigated. They are hardly going to tip you off so you can destroy the evidence, are they?

I've never even been to Egypt.

I've had that too HMRC are aware of it you can report it if you want to. There's an option when you call. X

This is an old one, just don't answer the phone if it's some random number!!

Yea I had the HMRC one and yes was bored so pressed 1

I got an automated message in a slight American accent telling me I was being investigated foir fraud etc then passed me onto anotehr person

This time a very bad english accent wanting to know mt name so it can be dealt with immediately

My patience was lost at thia time and i may of had a bit of a sweary rant

I've had a couple of scam TV licencing emails. Very unexciting.

If they call on my house phone , you can usually get warning that it’s them because there’s a pause until the line kicks in .

Which gives me enough warning to answer them with “ Fraud Squad ! What can I do for you ? “

It’s odd how many times they hang up .

I can't even begin the remember all the accidents I have had (none my fault). No, I really can't. Must be concussion.

I haven't had a call but I have had loads of text saying I owe them and they owe me , I wish they would make their mind up !

I have had a lot of call a claiming my Amazon / net flicks/ and HSBC accounts have been hacked . One caught me in a foul mood last week so I kept asking her random daft questions , do you have a dog , what's the weather like , she finally hung up when I asked if the wanted a chip
