Father Christmas and covid. How will he manage?

Not posting in the Coronavirus bit as it all seems very serious over there. Feel free to move it NMHQ.

Isn't Santa the ultimate bubble popper?

And what if an elf gets it just before Christmas?

And isn't he 900 years old so probably should be shielding anyway?

Elf dust shield. Hes immune. As an extra precaution he's been injected with a experimental vaccines.

His Covid antibodies are out of this world.

Also Covid virus wants to stay on the good list.

In other words... He will not be cancelled.

Mysterian · 30/09/2020 22:00

Think Covid has blown the good list this year. I think killing over a million people is deemed rather naughty.

Does his beard count as a face covering? Maybe all presents should be quarantined for 48 hours so the children can just look at them until boxing day is over.

Social distancing - all children must stay in bed all night on Christmas Eve in order to protect him!

Mysterian · 30/09/2020 22:13

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

The children hung up their stockings with fear
That a fat man with a cough soon would come near.

OP posts:
LadyofMisrule · 30/09/2020 22:50

He may not deliver stockings into bedrooms this year. We will ask him to leave them outside the doors.

I'll be leaving milk, biscuits, a carrot and hand gel by the fireplace.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 30/09/2020 23:05

Santa is the most powerful mutant in the world as per the Marvel Xmen comics. Hes immune so will be fine, he just wont go in any bedrooms this year in order to not bring any germs to sleeping children.

Bluewavescrashing · 30/09/2020 23:06

He is magic.

The end.

Bikingbear · 01/10/2020 07:00

You can't visit him as he's isolating for the big day. But he'll answer letters (via Royal Mail / Local Round table etc).

Given he shouldn't come into contact with people in his rounds he'll deliver as he always does in the night when everyone is asleep.

Some adults don't know this but Santa can also act like a courier, he can also deliver things that are 'sent to him'. Wink

meditrina · 01/10/2020 07:22

Magical beings can't catch it

And he's already got a contingency squad of extra elves on standby to track where university-age DC will be on Christmas Eve, in case it's not at home.

PollyPelargonium52 · 01/10/2020 07:41

Father Xmas and his elves hAve superpowers
Nothing to worry about!

JamesAnderson · 01/10/2020 07:45

Santa was only ever a delivery vehicle in our house.

Zany15 · 01/10/2020 07:47

Larger families will have presents left on the doorstep in case he breaks the rule of 6.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 08:01

@Bluewavescrashing

He is magic.

The end.

This. It needs no over-thinking!
user1495884620 · 01/10/2020 08:03

You have to be closer than 2m for 15 minutes. With eleventy million households to visit in one night, he's going to be nowhere close to that.

ClarencesMum · 01/10/2020 08:06

It would be nice if the PM of First Minister done a wee vid saying that Santa has clearance and it would be business as usual!

Nearer the time obviously.

Bikingbear · 01/10/2020 12:07

That's good to know my ILs couldn't grasp the concept that Santa delivers everything but not everything is from Santa.

My DMum, way more house proud than me, tells me him delivering also makes hoovering on Christmas Eve easier.Grin

ForeverBubblegum · 01/10/2020 16:27

He's set up good 'elf and safety measures in the north pole.

Mysterian · 02/10/2020 09:59

And the thread ends on an "elf and safety" joke.

Sad

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2020 10:02

He's a key worker surely? Maybe Christmas eve will end with a 'clap for santa' and that'll be the cue for us all to go to bed.

Pelleas · 02/10/2020 10:04

Don't worry - Antarctica is the last remaining continent with no Covid19 cases. The first vaccines are expected to be ready in December so I am sure Santa will be on the priority list both given his age and his 'key worker' status.

Bikingbear · 02/10/2020 22:19

I've just seen a Santa ad via FB doing visits via the TV so I guess that really means Socially distancing via Zoom or something

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 02/10/2020 22:24

@Bluewavescrashing

He is magic.

The end.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Although I like @Pelleas' response too.
