Buying a house, is this the best idea?

I live alone and want to move. Have just had an offer on my house but haven’t found anywhere yet. I am not keen on having a chain both way so I am considering selling up and hopefully finding somewhere within 6 months to keep my mortgage rate.

As I’m on my own as have very little storage costs, I’ve been told by agents and even the bank !! that I would be in a stronger position to buy somewhere if I had no chain myself and was in rented. I feel like it would be a bit calmer and I would have more buying power perhaps? I’m also a bit worried about where the market is heading and so think it’s best to sell ASAP.

What do you lot think?!

If you definitely want to move regardless of the housing situation, then you should sell.
6 months is a realistic time to find somewhere new.

Depends on the situation, I’ve sold to a first time buyer and buying an empty property and that is as big as our chain is.

I think if the offer you've had is proceedable and at an amount you would like then you should take it.

Just be careful renting, I've rented for 7 years and it's hard to find somewhere for less than a year!

If you sell and go into rented though you wont keep your mortgage, your mortgage will be paid off with the sale of your house and when you buy you will need to sart again. From what ive read mortgage lenders are asking for upto 20% deposits at the moment so id read into that before making any quick decisions!
