I'm a nurse and have never ever seen it heard of this being done until a bar did it to me today. Is this a thing?

All the rgn’s who do mine at work use the fore head. Sounds like sheer laziness to me.

Rebelwithallthecause · 30/09/2020 18:30

Some anti vaxxers are going around saying you shouldn’t get temperature checked to the forehead in case of radio waves affecting the brain and telling people to do the wrists instead

Maybe this person had run into one of these people and so does it on the wrist now to avoid the unnecessary and factually incorrect lecture

🤦🏻‍♀️

My chiropractor did this to me for the first time the other day, it's previously been forehead. I commented that it's different and he said they'd received guidance saying it was just as accurate (or more accurate, I can't remember which he said?)

Rustyigloo · 30/09/2020 19:38

They do this in Centre Parcs now before you go into the pool. It shouted "safe" at us.

Yep. They're worried about their pituary gland (or "third eye") getting all screwed up. Also because they don't want a gun-like object being pointed at the head being normalised. Some of them are terribly up in arms about it! I read quite a lot of this stuff on FB for fun.

PilatesPeach · 30/09/2020 20:34

one of my gyms used to do forehead but now yes doing wrist.

PilatesPeach · 30/09/2020 20:35

Yes I was also told it is meant to be more accurate

SoddingWeddings · 30/09/2020 20:54

Surely taking a temperature on an extremity is less accurate?

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2020 20:56

@SoddingWeddings that's what I'd have thought. Agree about the ones that lol like guns being pointed at the head though.
