Does dd need to self isolate??

Trying to work out if Dd needs to isolate for 14 days or not. She's got no covid symptoms so doesn't qualify for a test. Her step mom has tested positive for covid today, had the test yesterday. Dd last saw her on Sunday morning so over 48 hours ago.

I am not sure if I understand the guidance correctly. I think she has to isolate for 14 days but I don't? Can anyone confirm??

If course, she doesn't need to self-isolate as she doesn't have any symptoms.

Isn’t that the whole premise of the test and trace system?

You don’t officially have to unless you’re contacted by track and trace and told to isolate.

How long was she there? Did she social distance while she was at their house?

Contacts of contacts don’t generally have to isolate so you’re ok.

My DS is currently isolating. His key worker tested positive on the Sunday. He'd last seen her the previous Friday, so as he'd had contact, he has to isolate for 14 days.

That's what I thought, on 1 page of NHS site, it's someone in her support bubble but then another page on NHS site says it's only if someone you live with?
She's 13. I work full time too Confused

Apparently they were socially distanced. She was only there about 2 hours. Before that she was there the previous weekend.

Can she stay with her dad as he will be isolating as well? Not ideal but means you can work. Two weeks isn’t much in the grand scheme of things.

Presuming she was in close contact with step mum, it depends if step mum has symptoms and when they started. When I tested positive track & trace asked my close contacts to isolate if I’d seen them in the 48 hours before my symptoms began. If asymptomatic it’s less clear!

But surely this is just the responsible and sensible thing to do? You don’t wait to be told by a doctor to go to A&E if you are bleeding profusely - you just do it.
She has been in contact with someone who has tested positive. Maybe if everyone took a bit more responsibility then infection rates wouldn’t be so high.

If they were truly social distanced and weren’t within 1-2 metres for 15 mins+, in a car together or anything like that then I think track & trace would say no need to isolate... in that case it’s up to you what you feel comfortable with...

Bleeding profusely is not a comparably analogy to spending two hours socially distances from someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

If she was in contact in the relevant time frame she has to isolate. Being contacted or not by T&T is irrelevant although clearly it is all more official if she is contacted.

See, track and trace would only ask her to isolate if the stepmother gave the details. Not everyone is honest. Its 48 hrs before the onset of symptoms or during symptomatic period.
If she had her results today then your daughter needs to isolate

I would say yes she needs to isolate . My Son currently isolating as another pupil in his bubble at school tested positive he's 17 , the person concerned is not a particularly a friend of his or someone he had been in close contact with but he has still been instructed to isolate , the teachers too .

One of my colleagues tested positive and we were told that we all had isolate for 14 days. I work in a childcare setting, so it's all children and all staff.
