Does dd need to self isolate??

Trying to work out if Dd needs to isolate for 14 days or not. She's got no covid symptoms so doesn't qualify for a test. Her step mom has tested positive for covid today, had the test yesterday. Dd last saw her on Sunday morning so over 48 hours ago.

I am not sure if I understand the guidance correctly. I think she has to isolate for 14 days but I don't? Can anyone confirm??

I think she needs to SI. Our school sent us info about symptoms and who counts as the contact. According it along with family members and sexual partners a contact will include
a person who has had face-to-face contact (within one metre), with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, including:
ï‚· being coughed on
ï‚· having a face-to-face conversation within one metre
ï‚· having skin-to-skin physical contact, or
ï‚· contact within one metre for one minute or longer without face-to-face contact
and also a person who has been within 2 metres of someone who has tested positive for COVID- 19 for more than 15 minutes.

I would say that your DD will count as someone who has been within 2 metres for more than 15 minutes.

But she was in their house, as though she lived there, using their kitchen/bathroom etc.

Exactly this.

The screenshot someone posted to suggest she didn't have to self-isolate is actually showing that she does.

For the purpose of self-isolating, you need to treat this as someone she lives with, as the actions she'll have undertaken in this period are the same as if she lived with her.

Hi

We just called the GP as we were getting exasperated with different conflicting advice from the school and employer.

I'm in a similar predicament and I agree it's not clear.
If someone visits, sits in living toom, uses the loo, makes a cup of tea - does that make them a part of the household?

Also this is useful. It would suggest your DD does need to self isolate? And answers my last post!

Chasegirl
Luckily my DD not a contact by this but if her house mate was foolish enough to have symptomatic boyfriend round to house (tested today) then she may go elsewhere for a couple of weeks and leave them to it
