Or not bother ? It’s not Covid related

Yes unless its a real drama to get them to and from school with commuting or anything I would send them to school first

CrunchyNutNC · 30/09/2020 16:26

If the child would get 1.5 hours in school I'd send them. School time is precious at the moment!

DilysPrice · 30/09/2020 16:27

Ten minute walk, yes, thirty minute bus ride in the opposite direction to the GP, probably no.

Depends on logistics!

LunaLoveFood · 30/09/2020 16:29

Yes and then take them back after so they have both morning and afternoon attendance marked as in.

vanillandhoney · 30/09/2020 16:33

It depends on the logistics and how easy it is to get them there, to the GP and back again?

BogRollBOGOF · 30/09/2020 16:33

I'm a 5 minute walk to school so that's easy. We've done the walk to school for 9am, in the back doors, sign out through reception and continue the walk down to the GP. If they're not in 9:00- 9:10 it's an absence on their record!

If timing is tight around lunchtime, I have kept them over lunch to sign back in for the 1pm session.

Graciebobcat · 30/09/2020 16:35

No, I'd just take them in after lunch for the afternoon.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 30/09/2020 16:35

Gp that is around the corner from the school yes, hospital or orphadontist no

RepeatSwan · 30/09/2020 16:36

No, is more disruptive all round. Would just take them straight after.

RepeatSwan · 30/09/2020 16:38

Shock not really!?
DrinkFeckArseGirls · 30/09/2020 16:39

I’d ask the school of they’d allow the back and forth - they might prefer a late arrival in the current climate.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 30/09/2020 16:40

Yes probably as we live round the corner. School would wonder why they werent in otherwise!

Lardlizard · 30/09/2020 16:42

It’s in walking distance

OP posts:
LittleRa · 30/09/2020 16:45

My 6yo had an appointment at 9.50am and I sent her in Grin I dropped her off at wraparound at 7.30. Her dad collected her at 9.40am. The appointment was just at a local clinic. If it was at further away hospital I wouldn’t have for 9.50 but I would for 11am. I’m a teacher and I know that pupils will get their mark on the register if they’re there at register time, even if they leave after the register so it counts towards their overall attendance figure.

Sirzy · 30/09/2020 16:47

Yes Ds has lots of appointments and I always minimise the time off he has for them. Some have to be full day due to logistics but he has one at 11 next week so will be in school until 10.40 and then straight back afterwards

KetoPenguin · 30/09/2020 16:49

Yes I would if it's in walking distance, looks good to the school.

doctorhamster · 30/09/2020 16:50

Well I expect school would like you to for the attendance mark.

RandomMess · 30/09/2020 16:51

Yes I would and did

NailsNeedDoing · 30/09/2020 16:52

I would, they usually do the most important stuff in the mornings so if there’s no need for it to be missed then it shouldn’t be.

Anoisagusaris · 30/09/2020 16:54

Yes my kids have regular appointments and always go in before and after if it’s for an hour or more.

Nuffaluff · 30/09/2020 16:55

Yes I would, because that’s one important lesson in a sequence that they won’t miss out on.
Say maths is first and they’re learning about place value. If your child misses that lesson then they will struggle in the next lesson on the next day when the teacher says ‘so, you remember what we did yesterday? Well today we are moving on to the next stage...’

ScarMatty · 30/09/2020 16:55

5-10 minute drive or walk, yes. That's an entire lesson they will miss otherwise

20-30 min drive or walk, no.

AltoCation · 30/09/2020 16:56

Yes.
Why ever not?
Unless bus rides etc.

VillageGreenTree · 30/09/2020 16:58

Yes.
