Ds2 has just had his bicycle done up.. The bike shop didn't have a cover... Its going to be chained to a metal post outside his flat.. I want to buy a cover but don't want to buy one and then it wont go over the bike as its fixed to the post... Advice please...

Have you checked that he wants one? They're fairly uncommonly used by most cyclists and will add time to the journey because he'll have to go pack it away in the flat.

However, if you are definitely going to get one, they come with holes for the lock to pass through. It's a normal part of the design on all bike covers.

I had one of these for a while www.amazon.co.uk/BikeParka-URBAN-Waterproof-Bicycle-Cover/dp/B0055O67DU/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=bike%2Bparka%2Burban&th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1601557139&sr=8-3

There's an opening for a chain lock to go to so you can chain it up, and the cover keeps the rain off. It's a bit of a bugger in high winds, though, and bikes can still get rusty if they're outside all year. But they do stay mostly dry, and it's a theft deterrent.
