Driving test cancellations

Dd has recently failed her driving test. She (and I) are keen for her to do it again soon as she needs to drive to college that's a difficult journey by public transport.

Because of covid, there is a huge backlog and she has a test booked for January! Instructor said she should be able to get a cancellation.

Has anyone managed to get a last minute cancellation and do you have any tips for getting one? Time of day on the website etc? Or do you have to just be lucky?

I registered with 'Speedy Tests' for a fee they text you with cancellations- found them quite useful (but this was before covid).

Would avoid Driving Test Cancellations 4 All. They gave a date, asked for payment (which I immediately made) but didn't book it. According to the girl on their customer services desk the slot had already been taken because there is a 3 HOUR DELAY between DVSA announcing the cancellation and 'driving test cancellations 4 all' notifying you of it. (apparently it's in the (very) small print). Took my son's hard earned money still no test date til january (sad face)

Testi. Free app. Just moved our test from January 12th to October 8th :) Also I might be wrong but I feel like the DVSA updates its system around 5 to 5 30pm. We've only been looking for 2 days but there seemed to be a cluster of new dates available both days. Good luck!
