Question about mirroring (tablet to TV)

Hello everyone and sorry for the stupid question - I'm not very IT literate at all and even though I'm sure there's an IT board here I can't find it.
I don't have (and can't get) Internet at home. I have subscribed to Netflix and have found that I can go to a cafe or similar and download Netflix programmes there, that can be watched on my little phone offline when I get home. I do have a television though and wonder if I can watch these programmes on my TV even though the downloads are on my phone? I don't have any data or Wi-fi but do have a USB cord to link the phone and telly up if that's needed?

Sorry to be a thicko and please don't laugh, I'm sure this is the technological equivalent to making fire or creating a wheel for most!! But it would really help me to know the answer!

You could use a device such a a Chromecast which connects to your tv and can mirror your phone or run apps like Netflix but you would need wifi.

Does your tv have a usb port? You can download some types of movie files to a usb stick and plug it into your tv to watch.

In fact, I wonder if you could use your phone as the usb stick to do that?

It will totally depend on the age of your TV and what connections you've got on there.

If it has a USB slot - try plugging the tablet or phone into it and see what happens. Sometimes they allow you to connect the device and use it on the big screen, sometimes it just exists to read files off the phone like a USB stick. If it's the latter then your downloaded Netflix stuff won't work.

In this case you would want to get a different connector such as phone to HDMI. I might be wrong but I think chrome cast and amazon fire stick etc are more for getting Internet functions on your TV and that won't work if you don't have Internet at home.

Thank you all, my tv is quite new so I will try just plugging the phone into it via USB to see what happens. (Should probably have tried that first but was scared it would be wrong!) I don't have any other types of devices so will try that first and report back. Thank you everyone for your help x

If your TV is a smart TV, it will probably have the ability to do this without USB. If you go into your phone settings and go into the options for mirroring, it should work on its own without you having to do anything on the telly.

Do you have internet on your phone? Because you can actually use your phone as a WiFi hotspot, and use your mobile data for other devices in your home, like your TV.

What port does your phone have? Is it USB C? If so you can definitely get an HDMI- USB C cable which should enable you to plug into the TV.

If you use your mobile as a hotspot and you have a smart TV can you cast from your phone to the TV?

It seems odd that you can get mobile data where you live, but no line based internet.
