Going in circles trying to get test results

I had a liver ultrasound scan 11 days ago, and was told to get the results from my GP in 7 to 10 days.

Today is the first day they have been available, but the receptionist said the GP who requested the scan is on annual leave until Friday, so please could I phone back then.
I said, I'm sorry, no, my anxiety is through the roof, and is there any other way?
She said she'll ask another doctor to look at them "and explain the situation", and I've to phone back after 2pm tomorrow.

Does anyone know if there's anything more I can do?? Eg will the hospital give me the results? Am I reading too much into the "explain the situation" comment - would the receptionist see those results or would she not be able to see them until the doctor has had a look? I'm so confused.

I'm ill with worry, heart thumping etc. Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks

The hospital won’t give you the results.
The report will have been sent to the GP surgery. The GP (any GP) needs to review the report and comment if it is normal, satisfactory or follow up needed.
The receptionist may be able to see if the report is back or not but won’t be able to comment until the dr has put a note on -even if she happened to be qualified to read the report.

I’m sorry it’s causing you anxiety, I hope everything will be okay.

Thank you.
I just have this horrible feeling from her comment that she could see the report and it isn't great news.
It's weeks since the start of this investigating process, and I haven't fully relaxed at any point since 😔

Did you speak to the Dr op?
I hope everything is ok.

Thanks, yes, I got the results finally. It's not brilliant but isn't the dreadful option. So it's better than feared. I'm on HRT now too, and my anxiety is starting to ease a little

I’m glad it’s not dreadful. I hope things improve for you, take care Flowers
